The Union Public Service Commission is likely to release the date of the UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2020 today.
The date will be released on the official UPSC website. The date for the UPSC Forest Services Prelims will also be released today.
The examination was originally due to be held on 31 May, but it was postponed to 2 June due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown. As the lockdown has been extended, the day of examination has been postponed again.
As is usual every year, around one million candidates have registered for the Civil Services preliminary examination. The UPSC typically holds registrations from January or February to March. The preliminary examination is held in either April or May while the main examination is given in June.
Eligible candidates will be issued an e-admit card before the examination, which will be available on the UPSC website for downloading. The admit cards will not be sent by post.
The paper pattern of the examination includes negative marking for wrong answers in the objective-type question section.

The Civil Services Examination is a competitive test held across the country by the UPSC for recruitment to a number of civil services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).
