On May 4, 2020 Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TN TRB) was to release a notification of Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET).

However, the notification has not yet been released by TNTRB and now it is not possible to conduct the written examinations as scheduled on June 27 and 28. The board has so far not published any notification concerning the delay in the examination process. Candidates, who are eagerly awaiting the TNTET 2020 updates, need to wait longer. The delay is due to the ongoing crisis over COVID-19.

TNTET is held to check the eligibility of the candidates who apply for various teaching jobs from class I to VIII.

The exam is conducted in two segments, paper 1 for classes 1 to 5 and paper 2 for classes 6 to 8. Qualified candidates are awarded TNTET certificates that remain valid for 7 years.
