The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that the pending fellowships for Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and Senior Research Fellows (SRF) will be released within this week.
The Junior Research fellowship and Senior Research fellowship will be released between Wednesday and Thursday and this news came as a relief to thousands of research scholars.
The commission stated that the delay in disbursal of JRF fellowship and SRF fellowship was due to the technical issues they faced which are now resolved and fellowships will be provided soon.
Along with the fellowships, the backlogs would also be cleared and the fellowship amount will be deposited in the respective account of candidates.
Secretary of UGC, Rajnish Jain stated that because of the change in the financial procedure they faced some technical issues which caused the delay.
The technical issue is resolved now and the JRF fellowship and SRF fellowship emoluments will be deposited in the account of research scholars within two to three days, he said.
The Junior Research fellowship and Senior Research fellowship has been pending for a few months and the commission announced that the arrears will also be cleared along with it.
In 2019, the government increased the JRF emolument from INR 25,000 to INR 31,000 per month. The SRF fellowship emolument was also increased from INR 28,000 to INR 35,000 per month.
