February 10, 2021: The Union Public Service Commission has published an official notification on its website @upsc.gov.in regarding the UPSC IAS 2021 (Prelims).
As per the notice, the Commission has informed that the UPSC IAS 2021 (Prelims) exam will be conducted as per the exam schedule provided in the UPSC Calendar 2021. Apart from the IAS exam, the IFoS prelims 2021 exam is also scheduled as per the released calendar.
The delay in the notification was due to a pending case going on in the Supreme Court. The case is about the candidates pleading for an ‘extra chance’ for the IAS Prelims exam for those whose last attempt was on October 4, 2020 and they failed to appear for the same exam. However, the candidates’ plea was accepted and they were granted an extra attempt. But the case is still in process as there is a doubt on granting an extra chance to age-barred candidates.
The Commission has planned to conduct the UPSC IAS and IFoS prelims on June 27, 2021. The officials released a one-line notice to indicate the date for these exams. The Commission will release the notification about the eligibility criteria and various related details once the final decision on the current pending case is taken.
