The Indian Railways will start conducting CBT(Computer Based Test) from December 15, 2020 for 1.4 lakhs vacancies through the NTPC and other recruitment exams. According to the notification posted in Press Information Bureau’s website, the first round of exams will start on December onwards. It is the initial selection process for RRB NTPC, Ministerial and Isolated category and Level 1 posts in the railways. According to the official statement, there are 1.4 lakhs vacancies and 2.4 crore applications have been submitted for the same. Also read- NRA CET from September 2021

In an official tweet from the Ministry of Railways account, Mr. V.K. Yadav who is the Chairman of Indian Railways announced that they were unable to conduct these exams so long because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The official statement was published on Saturday and has come as a big relief to the aspirants who have been eagerly waiting for the official announcement. The Chairman has further stated that since exams like NEET and IITJEE has been conducted, the Railways is also considering starting the recruitment process as per the schedule now. The complete schedule is yet to be announced and presently, the Railways have started scrutinizing the application forms. Also, necessary SOPs and rules and regulations are also being framed to conduct the exams in the utmost safety possible, while prioritizing the public health.

According to the official notice on vacancies, the exact number is 1, 40,640. There are 35,208 vacancies in NTPC or Non-Technical Popular Categories for posts like Guard, Office clerk, Commercial clerk, etc. For Ministerial category, there are 1663 vacancies for posts like Stenographer and Teacher. For posts like Poinstman and Maintainers, there is another 1, 03,769 vacancies.
