October 19, 2020: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to find technical solutions for operational challenges. 

With the help of CRPF collaboration with IIT Delhi, officers and sub-officers will be able to enroll in short-term specialization courses of IIT institutes. 

The opportunity will be given to a 3.25 lakh-strong force that has about 500 officers and sub-officers having professional degrees in engineering and technology.

Referring to the MoU signed by CRPF, the spokesperson stated that a batch of forty engineers of officers and subordinate officers will have the opportunity to undergo the certification course under the collaboration. The course will be of six months’ duration and will be included under the IIT Delhi education program.

Selected officers from the trained batch will be eligible to undertake degree courses under the IIT of Delhi. Further, the trained batch will act as a technical advisor to the force.

Under the collaboration, the trained officials will be able to take part in various research projects of DRDO and IIT Delhi. The research process will be highly focused on defense security technology solutions.

The batch will be enrolled in courses and research projects related to their field of work such as ballistics, building and infrastructure, information technology, and communication. 

As per the Direct General AP Maheswari statement, the main aim of the MoU is to build capacity for the utilization of technologies in an optimal way. 

He further stated that the main objective of signing an MoU with the respective institutes is to integrate the requirement of forces and utilize their resources and research lab for finding solutions on different internal security grid, for realistic indigenization of technologies.
