The Bihar Public Service Commission has announced the possible dates for conducting the written Mains exam for 2020. The dates are tentative and hence subject to change. Earlier the mains exam was scheduled for August 4, 5 and 7, 2020 but had been postponed due to certain unavoidable reasons. The exam will be conducted for recruiting candidates against 434 vacancies in the Bihar Government and its various departments. The official notice of the exam was released on July 9, 2019 on the official website of the Commission. The preliminary exam was held on October 15, 2019 and 2, 57,247 candidates had appeared for it, out of which 6517 candidates had qualified. The result was released on March 6, 2020. These candidates are eligible for the Mains exam and are awaiting the declaration of the BPSC Mains exam date.
The cut-off marks for unreserved category was approximately 97 marks for the preliminary test and the reserved categories had cut-off between 79-94 depending on the category and gender.
The Bihar Public Service Commission is the state’s most popular exam that allots the most prestigious government designations to the candidates on qualifying. The syllabus and exam pattern is somewhat similar to IAS exam with specific emphasis on the state of Bihar. It is qualifying in nature and candidates have to clear every stage in order to make it to the final merit list. The total marks obtained in the Mains and Interview will be considered for the final merit list.
