UPSC invites applications for recruitment of Manager Grade-1/section officer’s vacancy. The notification regarding recruitment has been released on the official website of UPSC i.e.

Candidates who are eligible and interested can apply against the vacancy at The last date to submit the application form is December 2017. The exam will be conducted in the month of January/ February 2018.

The final selection of the candidates will be based on the candidates’ performance collectively in the written exam and interview. Candidates with scores above the mentioned Cutoff marks will be shortlisted for the interview round.

UPSC Recruitment: Vacancy Details

UPSC offers reservation to candidates who are Physically Challenged, Handicapped or orthopedically or Cerebral Palsy with one leg affected (Right or Left) or Locomotor Disability or having One arm affected (Right or Left).

The total number of vacancies that are reserved for Manager Grade – I/ Section Officer is 13. These are the permanent posts and candidates pay scale lies between INR 15600-30,100/- plus Grade pay amount of INR 5400/-.

Candidates who are shortlisted for Manager Grade – I/ Section Officer need to perform the following duties:

  • Candidates will be required to do Accounting, Planning, Distribution and Provisioning of canteen according to the UPSC policy.
  • Candidates have to make sure that customer gets high-level satisfaction.
  • They have to do General Administration of Depot and maintain fresh arrivals and personnel records of employees.
  • Candidates need to maintain store records and also do promotions or pay fixation or transfers or resignation and re-employment.
  • They have to give store related information directly to Assistant General Manager for effective control.

UPSC Recruitment: Eligibility

Qualification: Candidates must possess a degree, diploma/degree in Business Management or Material Management from the recognised university.

Experience: Candidates must have three years work experience in Administration, Accounts and Establishment work in Government Office or Public body or a Commercial Organization of repute.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Those who want to apply must also have an experience of storage, distribution and accounting or stores.
  • Knowledge of Government rules and regulations are also necessary.

Age: Candidate’s maximum age limit will be 35 years.


  • Candidate must be either Indian citizen or subject of Nepal or subject of Bhutan.
  • Candidates should be Tibetan refugee who comes to India before January 1, 1962 with intention of settling in India.

UPSC Recruitment: Reservation

UPSC offers Reservation and Relaxation under the government norms only when the physical disability of candidate is more than 40%. The following table shows the category wise age relaxation criteria:

How to Apply for UPSC Recruitment

Candidates must have to follow the below steps to apply for UPSC Recruitment for the posts like Manager Grade – I/ Section Officer:

  • Candidates have to apply only through online mode by visiting the official website “”
  • Candidates who want to apply for more than one post have to apply separately for each post and also pay the fees for each post.
  • Candidates have to pay the fees of amount INR 25/- either by sending cash money in any branch of SBI or by using net banking facility by using visa or master credit or debit card.
  • If the candidates did not submit the prescribed fees their application form will be rejected. Whereas fees submitted by candidates is non-refundable.
  • Candidates are advised to take the printout of finally submitted Online Recruitment Application form. Forms are not required to submit either by post or by hands.

UPSC Recruitment: Exam Pattern

The total duration to complete the examination is 2 hours carries a maximum of 100 marks. The examination is comprised of objective type questions with multiple choice answers. All the questions in the examination will carry equal marks.

The test will be conducted both in Hindi as well as English medium. Candidates are advised to carefully attempt the answers because the very wrong answer will carry deduction of one-third marks. No marks will be deducted if no answer is marked for a question.

UPSC Recruitment: Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of marks secured by them in Computer Based Recruitment test (CBRT). Candidates have to score more than meniotne Cutoffs marks so that they can be shortlisted for interview.

According to the information provided by the candidate in the online application form, they will be shortlisted for interview. Candidates must have to bring the following documents at the time of interview:

  1. 10th certificate or equivalent certificate including date of birth issued by central/ state board.
  2. Certificate of degree/ diploma along with mark sheets of all academic years as educational proof.
  3. Experience certificate from the organisation/ departmental head claiming clear duration of the employment
  4. Caste certificate (if applicable)
  5. Physically Handicapped certificate issued by competent authority by PH persons on the basis of medical fitness.

If a candidate changes their name after marriage or divorce or remarriage etc they have to submit the following documents along with all the above-mentioned documents:

  1. In the case of marriage women: Photocopy of Husband’s passport showing the name of spouses or attested copy of marriage certificate issued by the registrar of marriage or affidavit from husband and wife along with joint photograph before the Oath commissioner.
  2. In the case of re-marriage women: Divorce/ Death certificate and photocopy of present husband certificate or attested copy of marriage certificate issued by the registrar of marriage or affidavit from husband and wife along with joint photograph before the Oath commissioner.

In the case of divorce women: Copy of divorce certificate and affidavit before the Oath Commissioner.
