UPSC invites application for combined Geo-Scientists and Geologists entrance examination yearly. The National Level Entrance examination is conducted in the month of May. UPSC Recruitment for Geo Scientists comprises various levels of selection Process viz. Entrance examination, interview/personality test, and document verification.

Cut-off of the Geo-Scientist/ Geologist examination is released every year post the successful announcement of Result. The Cut-off marks are published on upsc.gov.in. So, to qualify the written examination candidates need to obtain marks equal to or more than cut-off.

UPSC cut-off marks for Geo-Scientist/Geologist 2016 are comprised of two stages i.e. written stage and final stage. The cut-off marks for Geo-Scientist/Geologist 2016 are as follows:

Written Stage

Candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks secured by the last qualified candidate at written examination will be called for personality test. Candidates need to secure marks out of 700. General, OBC, SC, ST category candidates need to secure minimum 15% marks in each paper and candidates belong to PH-1, PH-2, PH-3 category must secure 5% marks in each paper.
