October 23, 2020: Department of Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified that there is no age limit reduction for IAS candidates. The news of a reduction in UPSC IAS age limit for CSM to 32 years to 26 years is misleading, stated PIB.
Recently, news stating the age reduction in the upper limit for IAS CSE Examination to 32 years has been creating chaos like situation for UPSC. The news claimed that age reduction has been made for general category candidates, which later comes out to be fake.
More related news stating “UPSC is looking for young candidates for Civil Services” has also come to light. However, no official source or tweet has been made in the proof of the news by UPSC.

Candidates who were preparing for the CSE examination of UPSC found the situation confusing and hence started asking questions about the news.
In reference to students’ queries and to clear the air, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) tweeted stating that the news has no reference to the truth, and is misleading.

As per Official IAS 2020 Eligibility Criteria, the candidate of age limit 21 to 32 years old as of August 1 of the year is eligible to apply for UPSC Civil Service Examination.
