UPSC CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for aspirants seeking recruitment in the post of Group A officers (Assistant Commandant) in BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and SSB. Female candidates can also apply for all post except ITBP. The total number of vacancies through UPSC CAPF 2017 this year is 179.

UPSC CAPF 2017 is scheduled on July 23, 2017. Candidates can apply on the UPSC portal from April 12, 2017. UPSC CAPF 2017 Registration window will close on May 05, 2017. Aspirants are advised to complete the registration process well before the deadline to avoid any inconvenience.

UPSC CAPF 2017 will be conducted in offline mode (pen and paper based exam). There will be 2 papers and the total duration of the exam is 5 hours. Paper I is of 2 hours duration and consists of total 125 questions while Paper II is of 3 hours duration and there will be 10 questions in total. Paper I is objective in nature while Paper II is subjective in nature.

The result for UPSC CAPF 2017 is expected to be announced online on or before Sep. 09, 2017. UPSC CAPF recruitment process comprises three stages i.e. written test, physical efficiency test and personal interview.

UPSC CAPF 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Given below is the eligibility criteria candidates should check before filling the exam form. If the candidate does not able to satisfy the eligibility criteria then the application form can be rejected at any stage. The minimum age to apply for UPSC CAPF 2017 is 20 years.

  • Indian citizens are only eligible to apply for UPSC CAPF 2017 Exam
  • Male/female both candidates are eligible to apply for the posts of Assistant Commandants in CRPF, CISF, SSB, BSF. However, for ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), only male candidates will be recruited.
  • Candidate must possess a bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • The age of the applicant must be between 20 to 25 as on August 1, 2017. Age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories or ex- servicemen as per Government of India norms.
  • All the candidates are required to check carefully the eligibility for physical standards

UPSC CAPF 2017 Application Form

UPSC CAPF Application form can be filled in online mode only. Candidates have to first register on the official website. The last date to fill the online application form is May 05, 2017. UPSC CAPF Application Form is divided in two parts – Part I is related to filling personal details and fee payment while Part II involves filling qualification details and uploading of scanned images. Given below are the steps to fill online UPSC CAPF 2017 Application form.

Part 1

  • Visit the official website of UPSC.
  • Choose the desired posts from the options available
  • Enter all the required information
  • Make Application fee payment
  • Part 1 registration is completed, collect the registration number and password through the email ID.

Part 2

  • Visit the official website and log in to candidates’ portal
  • Login with Registration No. and Password
  • Enter all the required details in the application form
  • Upload the scanned images of photograph and signature in the prescribed size and format
  • Submit the UPSC CAPF Application form
  • Take printout of the duly filled application form after submission

UPSC CAPF 2017 Application Fee

To submit the application form, candidates need to pay application fee. Without successful fee payment, Application form will not be accepted. Females and reserved category (SC/ ST) students are however exempted from paying the application fee. Candidates can opt for any of the following methods to remit the application fee:

UPSC CAPF 2017 Admit Card

UPSC CAPF 2017 Admit Card will be available in the month of May, 2017. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website only. Without the admit card entry in the examination hall will not be allowed. UPSC CAPF Admit Card contains following information: name of the applicant, date, venue and time of exam. Given below are the steps to download the UPSC CAPF Admit Card 2017.

  • Visit the official website
  • Click on the link to download UPSC CAPF Admit Card
  • Read the instructions carefully and press ‘yes’
  • Download the Admit Card by providing Registration ID/ Roll Number/ Name and Date of Birth
  • Submit the details
  • Check the details in the displayed Admit Card and download
  • Print and make multiple copies of Admit Card for future purposes.

UPSC CAPF 2017 Exam Centers

Candidates are advised to choose the nearest exam center while filling the online application form. UPSC CAPF 2017 is expected to be conducted across 41 exam centers. UPSC CAPF 2017 Exam Pattern

UPSC CAPF 2017 consists of 2 papers. Paper I is going to be conducted in online mode while Paper II is a subjective paper. The total duration of the exam is 5 hours. Paper I include 125 MCQs and total marks allocated is 250 marks while Paper II comprises 10 subjective questions and total marks allocated is 200 marks.  The exam pattern is different for part 1 and part 2 examination. UPSC CAPF 2017 Selection Process

Candidates are recruited to the post of Assistant Commandant on the basis of candidates’ overall performance in UPSC CAPF. The recruitment process comprises of the following 3 stages:

  1. Written Test
  2. Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests
  3. Interview/Personality Test

  1. Written Test
  • Written test is conducted in two parts i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • In paper 1, General Ability and Basic Current Affairs are tested. The medium of question paper is in English and Hindi.
  • In paper 2, the questions asked on essay writing, précis writing, questions from comprehension and passage, counter argument type questions, report writing and other grammar questions.
  1. Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests

Candidates who manage to qualify the written test are eligible to take part in the physical efficiency test. The physical standards are given below:

  1. Interview/Personality Test

Candidates who manages to clear the physical efficiency test after the written examination are eligible to appear for the personality test.

  • The total marks allocated for interview is 150 marks
  • There will be 3 to 4 jury members and one chairperson who is serving CAPF presently in the interview panel.
  • Questions will be based on the answer filled in detailed application sheet. Few questions are also asked on basic current affairs.
