February 04, 2021: Minister of State For Personnel, Jitendra Singh has officially announced that the State Governments can now use the scores of the online Common Eligibility Test (CET) for recruitment purposes.
He added that the mandate of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will conduct the candidate's first-level screening through the CET at the matriculation, higher secondary, and Graduate level for the recruitments in Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Institute Of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), and the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
On the basis of the candidate's screening done at the CET, the final selection will be done by conducting any specialized tests or any equivalent examination by the respective recruitment organizations to recruit the eligible candidates, Singh wrote in his reply to the Lok Sabha.
Jitendra Singh had said that the score obtained by the candidates in CET can also be used by the state government for their recruitments based on the understanding of a memorandum with NRA.
When asked whether the tests would be conducted in regional languages,Singh answered that subject to an adequate number of candidates who opt out to take the test in any of the regional languages that is included in the 8th schedule of the constitution.
The Indian Government had set up the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) as a vide order on August 28, 2020 which will act as an independent, professional, specialist organization to conduct the Common Eligibility Test (CET).
