RRB Recruitment: 42972 candidates pass Stage I of RRB NTPC 2016 Exam

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) on Wednesday i.e. December 7, 2016, declared the Stage- I results of Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) examination 2016 on its regional websites. A total of 42972 candidates passed the RRB NTPC 2016 Exam. The online written exam to fill 18,252 vacancies in various technical and non-technical posts of RRB, were held across the country between March-May 2016. 

Around 57 lakhs candidates took the test. The board will conduct a second stage computer based test for various NTPC categories after the results are announced. Only those candidates who have cleared the first stage of the exam, will be called for the second stage of the examination. The number of candidates called for the second round will be 15 times the number of vacancies.

The second stage is likely to include questions on general awareness, arithmetic, general intelligence and reasoning. The 90 minutes long exam will cover 120 multiple choice objective questions.The question paper in the second stage examination (CBT) will be in English and the language opted by them in the application .

Some regions are yet to announce the results. Now that the results have been out, the second stage computer-based test (CBT) for various NTPC (graduate) category will be conducted by RRB. About 3 lakh candidates, who have cleared the first stage of the exam, held between March and May, will be called for the second stage.

1) Go to the RRB’s regional website from where the candidate has appeared

2) There are two links for results on the top of the website

3) Click on the first link to view ‘provisionally shortlisted candidates for 2nd Stage Examination (CBT)’

4) A pdf page containing the roll numbers of selected candidates will be displayed

5) Check your roll number carefully

6) Click on the other link to view individual result and cut-off marks of first stage examination

Note: User id is your registration number and password is your date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy) as entered during online application stage. This facility will be available only up to December 23, 2016.

RRB Recruitment: NTPC Job Descriptions

Commercial Apprentice

Commercial Apprentices are multi skilled supervisors in the commercial branch. A two year training is given to commercial apprentice in different categories of working of commercial branch i.e, training in duties of commercial clerks, parcel clerks, goods clerks, catering and commercial inspectors. After the end of two year training you will be posted as chief commercial/parcel/goods clerk or commercial inspector.

Pay scale: 9300-34800

Sr. Clerk-Cum-Typist

The posts of Sr. clerk- cum -typist is not cadre specific. You may be posted in any department. The job is mainly indoors. You will mainly be assigning work to junior clerks and supervising it on a day to day basis. The maximum probability is that you will be posted in personal department, where you will be working under senior divisional personal officer, responsible for human resource development of the cadre.

Goods Guard

Among all the posts goods guard has best defined work description. Vehicle guidance- this is a written document incorporating information about number of wagons, their tare weight, load tonnage of individual weapons and total tonnage. The VG is given by station/yard master. You will have to conduct checks on the entire train for any loose ends that might endager its smooth running. You will also have to ensure that the train has sufficient brake power and signing the brake power certificate.

Traffic Apprentice

Traffic Apprentices are appointed as multi skilled supervisors in transportation (operation) branch. As a TA, you will have first have to undergo two years training in various categories of working in traffic i.e, station master, guard, section controller, yard master and traffic inspector. After successful training of two years you will be posted as either of the following – station master or section controller.

Enquiry-Cum-Reservation Clerk

As the name suggests, the job of ECRC is to issue computerized reserved tickets for passengers and also to respond to enquiries regarding any issue of the same. In simple words helping the passengers to plan their travel. The best part is that job is only indoor. After selection, you will be given training for 45 days.

The Asst. Station Master is in-charge of running of trains at his station of posting. As ASM you will be operating the signal, ensuring all the tasks are completed as rule book. An ASM has to work in shifts. Generally, each station has one ASM, though bigger stations may have more than one ASM.
