RRB Recruitment: Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who wish to apply are required to fulfill the complete eligibility criteria prescribed by the official authority of RRB

Qualifying Criteria

Candidates passed class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from recognized board are eligible for the CLW recruitment post.

Age Criteria

The minimum age of the candidates should be 18 years on January 1, 2017. Candidates from reserved category are given maximum age relaxation for up to 10 years. The age criteria for the candidates is given below:

  • Unreserved: 18 – 29 Years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 18 – 32 years
  • Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 18 – 34 Years
  • Physical Handicapped (PH): 18 – 39 Years

Candidates who are serving employees who have put in 3 years of continuous service and substitutes who have put in 3 years of continuous service or 3 years in broken spells in the Indian Railways have the following age criteria:

  • Unreserved: 40 Years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 43 years
  • Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 45 Years

Widows/ Divorced women and women judicially separated but not remarried have the following upper age limit criteria:

  • Unreserved: 35 Years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 38 years
  • Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 45 Years  

Professional Qualification

  • Possession of Degree/ Diploma Certificate in Dance from Government recognized Institute is mandatory for the candidates applying under Dance.
  • For Music, possession of Degree/ Diploma Certificate in Instrumental: Percussion/Air from Government recognized Institute

NOTE: Candidates having experience in the relevant filed and performance given on AIR/ Doordarshan etc. and prizes won at national level will be preferred first.

RRB Recruitment: How to Apply

RRB recruitment form has started from January 18, 2017. Interested and eligible candidates can fill the application form on the official website i.e. www.clw.indianrailways.gov.in. by February 17, 2017 (5:00 pm).

However, the closing date for the applicants of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, J & K, Andaman & Nicobar & Lakshadweep Island, Lahaul & Spiti Districts & Pangi Sub-division of Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh and candidates residing abroad is March 3, 2017 (5:00 pm).

Steps to fill CLW Application form:

  • Visit the official website: www.clw.indianrailways.gov.in
  • Click on the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works Recruitment 2017 Cultural Quota Application Form link
  • Read the employment notification
  • Download the application form in A4 size white paper and fill all the required details
  • The application form should be filled in the applicant’s own handwriting in English/Hindi using blue/ black pen
  • Affix the recent coloured passport size photograph
  • Two copies of the same photograph duly signed on the back of them have to be sent with the application form
  • Enclose the required set of documents in Xerox duly attested by Gazetted Officer or self-attested along with the CLW application form
  • UR/OBC candidates should enclose the application fee. Reserved category candidates are exempted from paying the application fees
  • All the columns are to be filled
  • Candidates should write “ Cultural Quota Application- 2016-17 ” on the top of the envelope
  • Applications should be sent before the deadline without any fail else the application form will be rejected
  • Serving government employees should intimate that they are applying for the post of this notification

RRB Recruitment: Selection Process

Selection of the candidates will be purely based on the merit list. Eligible candidates will be assessed on the Written Test, Practical Demonstration and Testimonial Prizes.

  • Written test will be of objective type having following sections: General Knowledge, Genera Science, General Mathematics, English & Hindi Language, Professional Knowledge, Reasoning and Aptitude. 
  • There will be a common written test for both Dance and Music disciplines. The total marks of the CLW recruitment written test are 50 marks.
  • Candidates qualifying written test by scoring at least 40% marks out of 50, will be called for Practical Demonstration and Assessment of Talent.
  • Assessment of Talent in the relevant discipline on the basis of Practical Demonstration carries 35 marks in total.
  • Assessment of Talent on the basis of Testimonials/ Prizes carries 15 marks in total which is distributed as under:
  1. National Level: One event (5 marks), two or more events (7 marks)
  2. State Level: One event (4 marks), two or more events (5 marks)
  3. Others: One event (2 marks), two or more events (3 marks)

The 40% marks in aggregate (100 marks) will be minimum qualifying mark for empanelment. The panel will be formed purely on the merit basis.

During the time of interview, serving government personnel should produce the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the present employer.
