Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has issued an official notification, making it mandatory for the aspirants to have an Aadhar card in all future Railway Recruitments. Applicants will be required to furnish the 12 digits Aadhar card Number or 28 digits Aadhar registration receipt at the time of filling up the application.
All the aspirants who wish to apply for RRB exam and do not have Aadhar cards are advised to get themselves enrolled with UDAI and get Aadhar cards. According to the Board, "The provisions of the Aadhar Act and the Regulations under the Act have come into effect from September 14, 2016 and notifications to this effect have been published in the Official Gazette. Section 57 of the Aadhar Act 2016 permits the use of Aadhar number for establishing the identity of an individual for any purpose pursuant to any law or any contract to this effect.
Accordingly, RRB has decided that in all future Indian Railway Recruitments, the applicants shall be required to furnish his /her 12 digits Aadhar number or 28 digits Aadhar registration receipt at the time of filling up the application.”

The identities of candidates at the examination is critically important for the fair conduct of RRB examination and prevention of attempts at impersonation. The use of Aadhar Card in the Indian Railway Recruitment Examination is a convenient mode to verify the identity of the candidates.
RRB further said, “During the exam, through a biometric attendance system, their fingerprints can be collected and matched with the one stored on the Aadhar server. All eligible candidates wishing to apply for the posts of Railway Recruitment Boards are requested to visit the Aadhar Enrolment centres to get them enrolled for Aadhar".
However, Candidates belonging to J&K, Meghalaya and Assam will have to enter the valid passport number, Voter-ID Card Number, Driving license No. or any other valid Government identity Card Number in the online application form.
