The Indian Railways will begin the recruitment process for 1.40 lakhs vacancies in three categories from December 15, 2020 through a computer based test. So far, 2.42 crore applications have been submitted for these posts, according to Railway Board Chairman V.K. Yadav.
There are 35,208 vacancies for NTPC or Non-technical Popular category which includes posts like office clerk, guards and commercial clerks. 1663 vacancies are there for ministerial and isolated categories like teachers and steno. Apart from these, there are 1, 03,769 vacancies for level one posts like pointsman and track maintainers. The exams for all these vacancies could not be conducted so long because of the COVID-19 pandemic according to the Railways. According to the statement issued by the Railways, all the computer-based exams will be conducted on time now that the experience of hold exams like JEE and NEET is there. Keeping the pandemic in mind, the standard operations of conducting the exam are already being framed and further progress will be notified soon.
