Rajen Gohain, the Union Railway Minister of Asom said that, he would pursue with the Centre for a new railway recruitment policy in Northeast. He says that the Union Budget is over and he will take up the issue with the Center soon as the issue of separate railway recruitment policy for Northeast was in his mind.

Indian Railway is one of the largest employer in the world. The selection of candidates is based on the RRB Recruitment exam and their performance in the further rounds of selection process. Candidates from the northeast have a good opportunity as of new railway recruitment policy by the state union railway minister.

Know About RRB Recruitment

Several Organizations including AASU (All Assam Student Union) and AJYCP (Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad) have been demanding a separate policy for the recruitment of local youth in 3rd and 4th grades of the railways.

AASU and AJYCP are also claiming that the local youth were destitute in the railway recruitment for 3rd and 4th grade posts. They also protested for the same including the violent ones in the past.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Suresh Prabhu have been giving the top priority to the Northeast development and it has resulted well in the past times. Since the service of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, works on various railway projects in the northeast region have gained strength under the leadership of our government. This has result in an increase of 24% for the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) in the union budget.

Rajen Gohain said that the union budget 2017-18 also reflected the Center’s commitment to develop rail connectivity and infrastructure in Northeast. Gohain promised of setting up a midlife coach rehabilitation factory in Asom with an assumed investment of INR 500 crore has been postponed. Alternatively, a Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coach workshop is soon opening in New Bongaigaon with an investment of INR 90 crore.

The Union Budget 2017-18 has permitted the new workshop for refurbishing LHB coaches at New Bongaigaon in Asom. He added, instead of midlife coach rehabilitation, LHB coach refurbishing workshop will set up in the state. This change is done by keeping the safety of passengers in mind and LHB coaches are safer than that of midlife coach rehabilitation.
