CSIR UGC NET 2018 Eligibility

There are certain eligibility requirements which must be fulfilled by the candidates in order to appear for CSIR UGC NET 2018 exam. Following are the CSIR UGC NET Eligibility conditions which are required of the aspiring candidates:

Educational Qualification  

M.Sc or an equivalent degree / Integrated BS-MS / BS - 4 years / BE / B. Tech / B. Pharma / MBBS.

  • Minimum Marks: 55% marks for General Candidates (50% for SC / ST / physically and visually handicapped candidates)
  • Qualifying Exam 1: M.Sc or those who have completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination, are also eligible to apply.
  • Qualifying Exam 2: BSc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or candidates enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program can apply as well.
  • Qualifying Exam 3: Bachelor’s degree / enrolled for PhD / Integrated PhD program
  • Qualifying Exam 4: PhD degree holders, who have passed Master’s degree before September 19, 1991 with minimum 50% marks, are eligible to apply for only Lectureship.

Age Limit

  • For Junior Research Fellowship (NET): Candidates should be a maximum of 28 years of age as on 01-01-2018. The upper age limit can be relaxed up to 5 years for SC / ST / OBC-NCL / Physically or Visually handicapped and female candidates.
  • For Lectureship (NET): There is no upper age limit.

Admit Card is the most important document to be carried at the Exam Center. However, it must be supported with a valid photo id issued by the government of India preferably Aadhar Card.

CSIR UGC NET 2018 Cut Off

The cut off marks for CSIR UGC NET is the minimum marks required to get shortlisted for fellowships. Cut Off marks is expected to be declared separately for each subject. The cut off is devised considering numerous factors including,

CSIR UGC NET 2018 Result

The Result will be published in form of merit list at the official website. It will be published differently for each stream. The merit list will comprise names of qualified candidates with their ranks. Here’s how you can check your CSIR UGC NET 2018 Result

The conducting body will release 2 separate merit lists for JRF NET and LS NET stream. It is expected to specify details about the candidates such as:

  • Marks secured

The preparation of the merit list is done on the basis of performance of candidates in July 2018 exam.

It should be noted that those who qualify LS NET will be deemed eligible for JRF only in a Scheme or Project. However, they will not be eligible for Regular JRF NET Fellowship. The results will be valid for a period of two years, within which the candidate can join the CSIR fellowship. Following completion of two years, Result of the candidates will be considered invalid for admission to fellowships.
