SSC CGL Auditor Job Profile

As we discussed earlier in this article that the profile of auditor has three sub-profiles, and each sub-profile has different work environment. We will here discuss the job profile of each post.

Job profile Auditor C & AG

If you are posted C & AG, you will be posted in the states AG office which is generally situated in a state capital or some time into the big city of the state.

  • If you are selected in C & AG, you can live in a big city which can be a better thing for your lifestyle and other social and educational requirements.
  • The work would involve auditing of various governments departments and offices but with the guidance of seniors and after training.
  • Initially, you would be allotted clerical work rather than an auditor’s but with the time you would be promoted to posts that involve some serious auditing task.

SSC CGL Auditor CGDA Job profile

  • A person selected in CGDA as an auditor can be posted anywhere in the country.
  • Generally, they are posted at army account offices across the country. Here, your work would be passing various bills and also auditing them. There are various sections where you can be posted like a factory command, PAO office etc. The nature of work would be the same everywhere. The pressure is less and work-life balance can be attained easily.

SSC CGL Auditor CAG Job profile

  • The candidate selected as Auditor in CAG are posted in
  1. PAO (Pay and Account Office),
  2. Divisional offices
  3. Sub-Divisional offices under various ministries.
  • Your work would involve preparation and passing of bills, clearing pensions, GPF cases and maintaining accounts of various ministries as CAG is an apex accounting body in the government of India.
  • You can also get the opportunity to work in the internal auditing wing of CGA.

SSC CGL Auditor Pay scale

The pay scale for all the post has been revised after the 7th Pay commission’s implementation. The pay scale of auditors has also seen an upward revision. The grade pay and in hand (approximate) salary for various posts of Auditor are tabled below for your reference.

Apart from pay commission revision, there are Dearness Allowance revisions which are frequent and would help in upgrading the salary. The DA hike is more or less takes place within a year’s gap.

SSC CGL 2021 Auditor Transfer options

As we discussed under the job profile that all the three posts of auditor involve posting anywhere across the country. Since there is the office of AG, CAG in every state capital you would mostly be placed in the capital city. Candidates opting for the post of auditors should keep in mind that transfer is a part of their job. However, later on, your career, you get to settle in the head offices in Delhi.

SSC CGL Auditor Promotion opportunities

Auditor C & AG opportunities

Promotion wise this post is good. You can appear for SAS (Subordinate Account Service) exam after completion of 2 years of service as an Auditor. After clearing the exam you become Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) with grade pay of INR 4800. In case you couldn’t clear the exam then you would have to wait for normal promotion which usually takes place after three years. The promotion chart for auditor in C & AG is listed below.

  • SAS (After clearing exam) Grade Pay 4800
  • Senior Auditor (Without exam normal promotion) Grade Pay 4200
  • Welfare Assistant/Supervisor (Normal promotion)
  • Audit officer(for AAO)
  • Senior Audit officer (for Audit officer)
  • Assistant Accountant General (AAG)
  • Deputy Accountant General (DAG)

Auditor CGDA opportunities

In this post, there are two ways of getting a promotion. First by clearing the SAS exam and second by regular departmental promotion. However, unlike CAG and C & AG the first promotion in CGDA takes six years as compared to three years in the other two. Other promotions are similar to the auditor profile in CAG and C & AG.

Auditor CAG opportunities

The promotion path for CAG is similar to that of the C & AG profile and involves both examination and regular mode of promotion with enhanced grade pay. The job profile, responsibility, and promotion profile are also similar to that of C & AG.
