January 21, 2021: The government of Uttar Pradesh has cleaned the decks to start the recruitment process to fill in a total of 1894 vacancies for the posts of Principals, and Assistant teachers in nearly 3049 government-aided schools across the state.
RV Singh, the Special secretary (Basic Education) has directed the secretary of the Examination Regulatory Authority, UP Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, to conduct the recruitment examination as soon as possible. The recruitment exam guidelines have also been notified to him. Out of the total vacancies, 390 vacancies are for the posts of Principals, while the remaining 1504 vacancies are for the Assistant teachers posts.
It has been mentioned through the guidelines that the state government has clarified the cutoff percentage for the Junior high school-level recruitment. This decision has been taken over the issue that was cropped up while recruiting the candidates to fill up 69,000 vacancies for the posts of Assistant teachers.
As per the notification, the qualifying cutoff percentage for the recruitment exam to the 1894 posts will be 65% for General candidates and 60% for all the candidates of the reserved categories. However, the recruitment exam will be held separately for both the Assistant teachers and principals posts.
According to the guidelines issued for both the posts, the level of the recruitment exam will be higher than that of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET). A total of 150 Objective-type MCQS will be asked in the recruitment exam of Assistant teachers and it will be conducted for a duration of 2.30 hours.
Candidates who apply for the posts of Principals are required to appear for an additional 1 hour paper which consists of 50 objective-type questions related to school management after the completion of the General paper. Also, they must have an experience of working as a principal/teacher for a duration of at least 5 years
The guidelines also include that the separate online applications for both the posts will be accepted. If any candidate wishes to apply for both the posts, then they can select both the papers in the same application. However, the application fee must be paid separately.
As of now, the recruitment exam pattern and syllabus has not been mentioned. Therefore, the recruitment conducting officials will release the recruitment notification along with all the necessary details shortly on their website.
