January 27, 2021: The Delhi government in collaboration with the US embassy has planned a 10-week-long duration English teaching program. This will be exclusively for 700 pre-service teachers that are employed in women’s colleges of Delhi.
The partnership was done during an event. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the US Embassy David H Kennedy agreed to the agreement. In the event, the Deputy CM also called the US First Lady Jill Biden to have a word of encouragement with the government schools students of the city.
There were various senior officials from the US embassy attending the event. Sisodia highlighted the importance of English as a medium of communication. He said that the partnership aims at preparing teachers for the future. As a universal language, it is very crucial for the students as well as teachers to get a firm command over the Language.
From the US side, Kennedy also expressed his happiness over the collaboration and laid special emphasis on the English language as a basis for economic development. Praising the Delhi government, he added that it was a great initiative and mindset from the government to make teachers well-versed with the language.
The course is undertaken, keeping in mind the targets of the revised National Education Policy. It will act as an aid to creative thinking, students’ support, and the overall growth of the child. Apart from this, it will provide exposure to better technology, learning techniques, and various other things.
