SSC JE Electrical Syllabus- Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts recruitment examination for Junior Engineer Electrical (JE) as per the requirements of staff for Government Departments of India. The standard of the questions in Engineering subjects will be approximate of the level of Diploma in Engineering (Electrical) from a recognized Institute, Board or University recognized by All India Board of Technical Education.

  • SSC JE Syllabus for Electrical covers varies basic fundamental of Electrical Engineering, General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness. Syllabus is divided into 2 parts as per the scheme of SSC JE Electrical recruitment exam; Paper I and Paper II.
  • Syllabus for Paper-I consists of General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness in addition to General Engineering Electrical which is common subject in Paper I & Paper II.
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning in SSC JE covers various topics like Decision Making, Problem Solving, Analysis, Arithmetic Calculations, Visual Memory, Observation etc.
  • General Awareness includes topics like History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity and Scientific Research etc.
  • General Engineering Electrical involves Basic concepts, Circuits, Measurement and Measuring Instruments, Electrical Machines, Motors, Utilization and Electrical Energy, Basic Electronics etc.
  • SSC JE Electrical Syllabus of Paper-II comprises only one subject i.e. General Engineering Electrical. This subject has some topics like: Basic concepts, Magnetic Circuit, AC Fundamentals, D.C. Machine, 1 phase and 3 phase Transformers, 3 phase induction Motors, Estimation and costing, Utilization of Electrical Energy etc.

SSC JE Exam Pattern: Electrical Engineering

SSC JE Electrical exam is conducted in Online Mode in Paper-I and Offline Mode in Paper-II.

  • In Paper-I, there are 2 Tests. First Test is for 100 Marks and Duration is 2 hours and Second Test is also of 100 Marks and duration is 2 Hours.
  • Questions in both the tests are Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions. Total Marks for Paper-I are 200 marks.

Note: There will be Negative Marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.

  • In Paper-II there is only one subject and one test of 300 Marks and Duration of exam is 2 hours.
  • Paper-II is offline Pen Paper Based exam. Questions are of descriptive mode. There is No Negative Marking scheme in Paper-II of SSC JE Electrical exam.
  • Candidates will be required to attempt only the part as per option selected in application form for SSE JE Exam. In other words, the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) should attempt Electrical Part of Paper-I and Paper-II failing which his/her answer sheet (Paper-II) will not be evaluated.
  • Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in Paper –I will be called for Paper-II (Conventional Type).

Note: Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.

SSC JE Electrical Syllabus for General Intelligence and Reasoning

  • The Syllabus for General Intelligence would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type.
  • The test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc.
  • The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions

SSC JE Electrical Syllabus for General Awareness

  • Questions will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society.
  • Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person.
  • The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity and Scientific Research, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

  • Electrical Engineering Basic concepts, Circuit law, Magnetic Circuit, AC Fundamentals, Measurement and Measuring instruments, Electrical Machines, Fractional Kilowatt Motors and single-phase induction Motors, Synchronous Machines, Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Estimation and Costing, Utilization and Electrical Energy, Basic Electronics
