SSC JE Paper I is scheduled from January 22 to January 29, 2018. SSC JE 2018 was conducted successfully in CBT mode for the second consecutive day i.e, January 23 across all the stipulated centers.

No major surprises await candidates this year, i.e, paper 1 would be objective type whereas paper 2 would be descriptive type like last year. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks. Here is a brief look at some of the important takeaways for SSC JE 2018:

  • Candidates who have read general knowledge well can make a difference in their total marks as paper 1 holds the maximum weightage for the same. 
  • SSC JE paper 1 is divided into three parts that is General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and General Engineering (Civil & Structural) or General Engineering (Electrical) or General Engineering (Mechanical).
  • SSC JE paper 2 comprises one part with three choices, Part-A would be General Engineering for Civil and Structural or Part- B General Engineering in Electrical or Part-C General Engineering in Mechanical
  • General Knowledge in paper 1 will have questions on Current affairs, peoples, books, and sportspersons.
  • SSC JE 2018 result for paper 1 is expected to release on or before February 12, 2018, and paper 2 results will be out tentatively by April 5, 2018.
  • Candidates who manage to obtain the minimum cut off score are only eligible to participate in SSC JE 2018 Selection Procedure.

SSC JE is the perfect opportunity for candidates to join as Group B Non-Gazetted Junior Engineers in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Quality and Quantity Assurance in various Central Government departments.

SSC JE 2018 Answer Key

As per the notification issued by Staff Selection Commission, the Answer Key of both paper 1 and paper 2 will be made available online on the official website after all the sessions are conducted successfully. Candidates applying for the post of Junior Engineer in Central Government have to answer 200 objective type questions in Paper 1 whereas 300 descriptive type questions in paper 2.

SSC JE Answer Key would be released separately for all the different sets of question paper. Candidates are advised to check the answer key pertaining to their question paper set for calculating number of correct answers marked and score obtained for them.

How to Access SSC JE 2018 Answer Key?

To download the answer keys for SSC JE 2018, candidates can simply follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Visit the official website i.e.
  • Click on the link that says ‘Answer Key’ on the top of the webpage.
  • Select your exam and year from the list that will appear.
  • Enter candidate’s name and enrollment number and hit enter.
  • Check your answer and download the key for future reference.

SSC JE 2018 Paper Analysis

  • A general trend has been observed over the past few years that the difficulty level of exam is average.
  • Many candidates claim that the questions asked in General Intelligence section are tougher this year.
  • Topics like Analogy & Odd one out has covered the most number of questions in general intelligence section of the Paper 1 of SSC JE 2018.
  • The second section of paper 1 that is, General Awareness comprises of topics like Science, Social Science and miscellaneous as the major part of it.
  • Now the last part of the question paper contains 100 question and all questions were from topics that highest weightage

SSC JE 2018 Paper 1– Sectional Analysis

SECTION 1: General Intelligence –

  • Analogy, Meaningful Order, Alphabetical Series, Odd one out, Blood Relations, Miscellaneous, Statement Conclusions & Assumptions, Matrix Figure, Figure Pattern, Venn Diagram, Operations on Numbers and Mirror Images/ Embedded are crucial topics that were covered
  • The major part of the question paper was covered by Analogy & Odd one out. There were around 9-10 questions from Analogy and 7-8 questions from odd one out topic.
  • A good score could be 21-23.

SECTION 2: General Awareness –

  • General Awareness comprises of questions from both static as well as current GK with the maximum number of questions from contemporary general awareness.
  • Almost all the areas like Science, History/Geography/Polity, Current Affairs, Static Affairs , Economics, Computer, etc. were covered.
  • As per the candidates attempted SSC JE 2018, the questions seemed easy to moderate level of difficulty.
  • One who has attempted 25-26 questions could be a good count.

SECTION 3: Technical (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering) –

As this section is totally technical, so topic they covered is Mechanical, Civil and Electrical engineering. Candidates have to attempt any one of these. The sub-topics that were covered in the question under are bulleted below separately:

Key points:

  • A total of 70 questions were asked were asked in the technical section (Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil) of SSC Junior Engineer 2018 Examination. Candidates can score up to 100 marks for marking correct in this section.
  • Candidates who have a good knowledge of their streams be it mechanical, electrical or civil have found this section quite scoring.
  • Moreover, the difficulty level of technical section overall is calculated to be moderate.

SSC JE 2018 Expected Cut off 2018

The cut off for SSC JE 2018 exam is declared along with the result only. Cut off is the minimum qualifying marks that a candidate need to secure in order to stand eligible for next selection rounds.

Some of the factors that determine SSC Junior Engineer Cut off include previous year cutoff, difficulty level of exam, number of test takers, etc. Given below are the expected cut off marks arranged category-wise for SSC JE 2018. However, SSC JE will declare the official cut off on tentatively June 5, 2018 for Paper 1 and July 23, 2018 for paper 2.
