SSC JE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criterion for SSC JE 2020 is as set up by the Commission. Aspirants must ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements before applying for the exam. The general eligibility criteria are given below. All aspirants must fulfil these eligibility norms irrespective of their category.

Nationality:

  • Candidate can be a citizen of India, Nepal and Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of settling permanently in the country before January 1, 1962
  • An Indian origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zaire, Malawi, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of settling in India permanently.
  • Apart from Indian citizens, all other aspirants should have an eligibility certificate issued by the government.

Age limit:

Candidate must be between the ages of 18-32 to be eligible for the exam. The age criterion is relaxed by a few years for reserved category and physically challenged aspirants.

Educational Qualification:

Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in the respective stream of engineering from a recognized university.

SSC JE 2020 Application Form

SSC JE 2020 Application Form consists of 2 steps. Individuals will be required to fill up general details like personal information and educational qualifications. The application forms can be filled via the online mode only on the official website www.ssconline.nic.in. Application fees can be through both online and offline mode. The steps involved in registration and application are given below:

Part 1 Registration

  • Log on to the official site of SSC and click on the Examination tab. Select the option of ‘SSC JE 2020 Registration’.
  • The Part I Registration page will open.
  • Aspirants will have to provide general details such as Name, Date of birth, Mailing Address, Category, etc. They must also choose a centre of examination from the drop-down list.
  • Applicants can then verify the information mentioned in the SSC JE 2020 Application form and can modify it in case of any mismatch/ discrepancy.
  • After verification of details, they must read the terms of the declaration given and click on ‘I Agree’ after reading it properly. No changes or modifications will be permitted after this stage.
  • After all the above steps are complete, students must print out the confirmation page of Part 1 Registration which will have their unique Registration ID and other details for reference.

Part 2 Registration

  • Select the option of ‘Part II Registration’ after completing the first part. Enter the Registration ID and Date of Birth.
  • Students will first have to pay the requisite application fees. They can choose any 1 out of the 3 options- Pay by Cash, Card or Pay by Net Banking to pay the fees.
  • The next step is to upload scanned images of Photograph and Signature. Applicants must upload their recent, passport-sized, color photograph and signature as per the desired specifications.
  • After all the above steps are completed, a confirmation page will be generated. Aspirants must take a print out of this page for future correspondence.

Application Fee 

Aspirants can pay the application fees for SSC JE 2020 exam by cash, card or net banking. The process for rendering fees via each method is given below:

  • Pay by Cash- On choosing this option, a system-generated bank challan of State Bank of India will appear on the screen. Aspirants must print out this challan and submit the requisite fees by cash at any branch of the bank. They must preserve the student copy of the challan as proof of payment.
  • Pay by Debit/ Credit Card or Net banking- Aspirants can pay the fees through Debit/Credit card or through the Net Banking facility. They must enter the required payment details on the bank page and save the receipt of transaction.

SSC JE 2020 Admit Card

SSC JE 2020 Admit cards for Paper I will be available on the official website. Applicants must log in to their registered accounts to avail the admit card. No admit card for SSC JE 2020 will be dispatched by post.

Admit cards will have details about the aspirant such as the roll number and the exam centre allotted along with the address of the venue. It is an important and mandatory document of the exam and no aspirant will be granted entry without it.

SSC JE 2020 Exam Center 

Aspirants will have to choose the city preferred by them as their exam centre and fill the city code in the application form. The governing body will allot a centre accordingly to aspirants and the venue of the centre will be mentioned in the admit card. Exam centre once allotted will not be changed under any circumstance. SSC JE 2020 will be conducted in 9 centers across the country.

SSC JE 2020 Exam Pattern

SSC JE 2020 will consist of 2 papers- Paper I and Paper-II. The first stage – Paper I, will be an online, objective type exam while Paper II will be a conventional subjective i.e. offline exam.

  • Paper 1 comprises of 3 sections- General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and General Engineering and the duration of the exam are 2 hours.
  • Candidates who qualify in the first stage will be eligible for SSC JE 2020 Paper-II.
  • Paper 2 comprises of 3 sections out of which candidate must attempt one, the duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • Applicants will be required to choose from 3 subjects- Civil, Mechanical and Electrical for both Paper I and Paper-II.
  • The total obtainable marks in Paper 1 are 200 and for Paper 2 are 300.
  • Negative marking will be applicable to this exam.

SSC JE 2020 Syllabus

SSC JE 2020 syllabus will be of graduation or diploma level of engineering. The syllabus of different sections is given below.

General Intelligence and Reasoning  

This section will assess the applicant’s ability to answer questions based on Data Interpretation, Analogy, Blood relations, Syllogisms, Series and Sequences, Logical reasoning, etc.

General Awareness  

This section aims to determine the General Awareness of the aspirant. It comprises of current affairs as well as economics and business affairs of the country, schemes launched by Government, Indian Polity, Geography, History, Sports, Science and Technology, etc.

General Engineering   

This section will evaluate the student’s knowledge in the respective field of engineering. Aspirants will have to choose from 3 streams- Civil, Engineering and Mechanical and answer questions based on the topics. Paper-II will also test the engineering knowledge of candidates and the detailed syllabus is given in the SSC brochure.

SSC JE 2020 Result

Candidates who clear the cut-off score will qualify the first stage and will be able to appear for Paper-II. Results for both papers will be declared by SSC on their official website in the form of a rank list. To check the results, applicants can follow the steps given below:

  • Log on to the official SSC website.
  • Search for the link of ‘SSC JE 2020 Result’ and click on it.
  • A PDF file will appear on the screen containing the scores of all applicants in order of ranks secured by them.
  • Search for your roll number to know your result.

SSC JE 2020 Answer Key 

SSC will publish the answer key of JE exam on its official website. The conducting body will release the answer key for objective type paper i.e. Paper I for all sets. SSC JE answer key will help aspirants to analyze their performances in the exam. The commission will publish JE answer key around March 2020. Aspirants can also check unofficial answer key published by some coaching institutes that will be made available soon after the exam.

SSC JE 2020 Selection Process

SSC JE 2020 is conducted for eligible aspirants for various Junior Engineer posts and vacancies. SSC JE Recruitment process will take place after the declaration of the results of Paper-II. Aspirants will be shortlisted on the basis of their scores obtained in both the Paper I and Paper-II.    

Applicants who successfully qualify the SSC JE 2020 will be eligible for participating in SSC JE 2020 Recruitment process and shall be on probation for a period of 2 years. During the period of probation, aspirants will undergo such training or pass such examinations as prescribed by the Controlling Authority.
