SSC JE 2016 exam is around the corner. Candidates must be preparing hard to crack SSC JE exam. Here we are providing you with some tips that will help you in preparing SSC JE Mechanical Engineering in 30 days. Here you go!

There are two Papers in SSC JE- Paper 1 and Paper 2. SSC JE 2016 Paper 1 is an Objective Test, scheduled from March 1 to March 4, 2017. Candidates qualifying Paper 1 will be shortlisted for SSC JE Paper 2 which is a Conventional Type test.

SSC JE Mechanical Engineering Paper 1 has 3 sections: General Intelligence (50 marks) & Reasoning, General Awareness (50 marks) and General Engineering (100 marks | anyone from Civil/Mechanical/Electrical).

SSC JE Mechanical Engineering Paper 2 is subjective in nature having weightage of 300 marks, should be completed in 2 hours duration. The standard of the questions will be approximately of the level of Diploma in Engineering from a recognized Institute, Board or University recognized by All India Board of Technical Education. Candidates should optimize their SSC JE Preparation according to the difficulty level and complexity of the questions.

Know About SSC JE 2016

In the following table, SSC JE Mechanical Engineering topics are depicted according to their level of difficulty, importance and weightage. These topics are arranged according to their weightage in SSC JE Mechanical Engineering Paper.

SSC JE Mechanical Topics Weightage Question Types/ Sub Topics Level of Difficulty
Fluid Mechanics & Machinery 17-20 Questions Properties of Fluids, Pressure Measurement, Flow Measurement Devices, Turbines & Pumps, Pipe Flow, Bernoulli’s Theorem. easy to build concepts, high accuracy possible, more numerical
Production Engineering 13–15 Questions Welding, Metal Cutting, Forming, Cutting Tool, Materials, Metal Casting, Heat Treatment cover vast topics, time consuming, mostly theoretical with some numerical from welding and metal cutting
Strength of Materials 12–13 Questions Bending Moment & Shear Force, Stress & Strain, Torsion, Columns, Pressure Vessels and Springs tough to grasp concepts, moderately time consuming, high scoring, more numerical
Theory of Machines 10–11 Questions Mechanisms, Flywheels, Governors, Gears and Gear Train, Cams, Balancing moderate difficulty level, more time consuming, high accuracy possible
Thermodynamics 7–8 Questions Law of Thermodynamics, Entropy, Properties of Substances, Properties of Gases time consuming, moderate accuracy possible, more theoretical
IC Engines 7–8 Questions Air Standard Cycles– Otto Cycle/ Diesel Cycle
Combustion, Knocking, Testing
theoretical topics, less time consuming, high accuracy possible
Power Engineering 6–7 Questions Brayton Cycle, Rankine Cycle, Boilers, Air Compressors, Nozzle and Diffuser needs clear concepts, less time consuming, high accuracy
Machine Design 4–5 Questions Belt and Rope Drive, Clutches, Riveted Joint, Bearings time consuming, more numerical, moderate accuracy possible
Refrigeration & Air Conditioning 3–4 Questions Refrigerants, Psychometry and Air-Conditioning theoretical, less time consuming, very high accuracy possible

While doing the revision, focus and segregate your strong and weak topics. You still have enough time to focus and improve your performance in SSC JE 2016 exam. Spend most time in polishing those topics that carry high weightage marks. You should also make sure that you know the topics from SSC JE exam point of view. Skip the topics that take much time to prepare.

Refer good books and question bank to boost up your SSC JE Preparation. Just make sure, you refer separate books for separate topics. So that, you don’t have to worry about its reliability.

Cracking SSC JE needs dedication and a great level of preparation strategy. Make a study schedule, stick to it and be true to yourself.

Check SSC JE Exam Pattern

SSC JE paper 1 has 200 questions and 120 minutes are allotted to complete the paper. So ideally candidates get 36 seconds per question to solve. Play a mind game to manage your time wisely. You can divide your General Engineering Paper into 2 parts: Numerical and Theory. Hardly there are 20 numerical based questions in SSC JE 2016. Rest 80 questions are fact-based questions which can be solved within 10-15 seconds easily.

When you attempt SSC JE mock tests, make sure you do not spend more than 30 seconds on any question. Maintain accuracy. It is easy to score marks in General Awareness section because you don’t have to spend much in analyzing question such as in Reasoning section. This means, that you need to learn shortcuts and tricks to solve reasoning questions.
