The Exam was conducted on January 29, 2017 in three slots for duration of 75 minutes each. The SSC CHSL exam consists of General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness for a total of 200 marks. Each section consists of 25 questions having 50 marks. There is no negative marking in the question paper.

SSC CHSL TIER 1 Exam had a Moderate difficulty level. Overall good attempts of CHSL Exam are 68-79.

CHSL Tier I – General Intelligence & Reasoning

General Ability and Reasoning tests the logical analytics, thinking and non- verbal skills of the students. To surpass cutoff marks, 21-23 number of safe attempts can be considered.

Maximum number of questions came from the topics like classification, and analogy. The level of difficulty for these topics was easy to moderate. There were 3-5 miscellaneous questions which were easy to moderate in nature.

CHSL Tier I – General Awareness

The total number of question in this section was 25 which consisted of 50 marks. Each correct response carried 2 marks. Safe attempts for this section were 14-17 out of 25 questions.

The difficulty level of this section was Moderate. The highest number of questions came from General Science which was easy in nature. The topics which asked majorly were from history, geography, art & culture, and computer which were easy to moderate in nature.

CHSL Tier I – Quantitative Aptitude

Similar to previous days, a significant portion was from Arithmetic. The difficulty level of this section was Moderate. 18-21 number of safe attempts can be considered enough to surpass cutoff marks.

Aspirants can easily score in the topics like Data interpretation as the highest number of question came from it and were easy. Other questions include topics were coordinate geometry, averages & percentages, and speed & distance, geometry, trigonometry, etc. These topics were easy to moderate in level. There were 4 miscellaneous questions which were moderate in nature.

CHSL Tier I – English Comprehension

The difficulty level of this section was Moderate. This section contained 25 questions which was of 50 marks. An average attempt of 15-18 number of questions considered enough to surpass cutoff marks.

This section tests the Basic English knowledge of aspirants. The highest number of question came from Antonyms & Synonyms, and Cloze test which were easy to moderate in nature. Aspirants could score easily in the topics like spelling, sentence / para jumbles, and error spotting / sentence correction as they were easy.
