Data Entry Operator (DEO) is one of the most sought- after posts of SSC CHSL. This post offers good grade pay and other allowances. It also observes the highest cut off in SSC CHSL. As per previous years’ trends, applicants who scored above 200 were selected for the Data Entry skill test.

As per SSC CHSL Notification 2017-18, last date to fill SSC CHSL Application Form 2017 is  December 18, 2017. Tier 1 is scheduled from March 4, 2018 onwards. The aspirants who qualify this stage will advance to Tier 2 which will be held in June 8, 2018. Check SSC CHSL 2017 Exam Pattern

  • DEOs work as an assistant to a senior on any level and maintain soft records of documents, verify them and make reports based on the data.
  • They have a grade pay of INR 2400 with the payband between 5200 and 20200.
  • Career Opportunities of DEOs include promotion to Grade B, Grade C and Grade F DEO.

SSC CHSL 2017 DEO Vacancy

State Selection Commission has released the official notification for SSC CHSL. There are lesser vacancies available this year for all posts of SSC CHSL.

  • A total of 3259 vacancies are available for the posts under CHSL.
  • This number has come down from 5134 vacancies which were available in SSC CHSL 2016.
  • For the post of DEO, only 2 vacancies are available as it is highly preferred by candidates. In 2016, there were over 500 vacancies for this post.

The competition will be fierce especially for the DEO post as the number of vacancies is very few this year. Hence, aspirants must prepare well for the exam.

SSC CHSL 2017 Expected Cut Off for DEO

Every aspirant must undergo 3 stages of exam- Tier 1, Tier 2 and Skill test, in order to get recruited for the DEO post offered by SSC. They have to clear SSC CHSL Cut Off of each tier to advance to the next stage. The cut off varies with the department chosen by aspirants i.e. C&AG and Other than C&AG

Note: SSC CHSL Cut off percentage for mistakes in the Skill test is around 5% for General category and 7% for other reserved categories.

SSC CHSL 2017 DEO Job Profile

Data Entry Operator is one of the best posts available through SSC CHSL and is preferred by most aspirants. A DEO is one who records data in the computer. It is entirely a computer-oriented job and does not require any fieldwork.

Indian Government currently has its own Data Entry Department for the details of staff members (salary, registration of names, making identity cards, etc.) and work regarding collection of various documents. The job profile of a DEO is briefly explained below:

  • A DEO must have a good typing speed for work. Accuracy, attention and speed are generally required to complete the tasks at hand.
  • Aspirants must be comfortable using tools like MS Office, Windows and other Editing tools.
  • DEOs work as an assistant to a senior on any level. They maintain the soft records of documents, verify them and make reports based on the data.
  • They have to enter customer and account data by inputing text based and numerical information from documents and work through deadlines.
  • A DEO has to collect all the important information, tables and structure of the company for making a proper database for the department.
  • It is also their responsibility to check emails, reply to these emails under the supervision of the seniors as well as maintain a clear record of receiving any such message.
  • The concerned department’s computer related tasks such as making reports, data sheets, presentations, summation indexes, documents and managing records is the responsibility of the Data Entry Operator.
