SSC CHSL Study Plan

SSC CHSL 2017 for Tier 1 will be conducted between March 4, 2018 to March 26, 2018. So, around 10 weeks are left before the commencement of the exam to take place. This is not a huge amount of time, but if utilized properly, one can crack this exam within 10 weeks itself. Therefore, we have prepared a study plan assuming that you have 10 weeks in hand to crack this exam (one may have 12-13 depending upon the exam date, but ideally one should target the earliest date possible).

This plan is prepared by dividing the whole period into 3 phases. Take a look:

Phase I (First 4 weeks): - In this phase, the focus must be on completing the syllabus. We recommend you to complete the syllabus within this period itself as you might need a lot of practice to crack this exam. Here are the things you should do in this period:

  • Spend daily at least 90 minutes to study one topic each of English, reasoning and Mathematics
  • Read an English newspaper for at least 30 minutes every day, this will help in both GK and English
  • Take 30 minutes every day to prepare notes of GK
  • Take topic tests, if available, on any website or mobile app
  • Do not go for a lot of practice paper now, 2 tests will be sufficient in this period

Phase II (Week 5 to 8): - This phase is all about practice. But If you could not complete your syllabus, do not let it go later than 5th week. It is time to get comfortable with more and more topics and turn your weaknesses into strengths. Take a look at the things which you can do during these 4 weeks:

  • Solve at least 50 questions each of English, Mathematics and Reasoning
  • Continue with making GK notes
  • Continue with English newspaper
  • Take mocks, 4 to 8 mocks with complete analysis
  • Focus on speed building, try to have time based practice.
  • Solve past year papers of SSC CHSL.
  • Focus is on all round development, do not let any one subject take over others.

Phase III (last 2 weeks): In this last phase of preparation, you need to do only two things – solving test papers and revision. Since you are so near the exam, it is time to get completely delved into preparation and get the most out of you. Take a look at the things you need to do in this period:

  • Practice Test papers and previous year papers. Target at least 10-12 mocks during this period, with a reasonable time being given to analysis.
  • Practice as much as possible. Focus on your strengths now.
  • Revise everything. Go through all the notes that you have made.
  • It isn’t necessary to reach newspaper now, rather keep on revising your GK notes.
