IBPS Clerk Mains exam is scheduled to be held on December 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017. Only few days are left for the D-Day. As per the IBPS Clerk Mains Exam Pattern, no major change is there except the introductioin of sectional time limit.
IBPS Clerk Main consists of 5 sections
The major difference between IBPS Clerk Prelims and Mains is- the difficulty level of questions, sectional wise time limit and addition of 2 more subjects- GA & CA. Just few more days to go for IBPS Clerk Mains Exam, guys modify your preparation strategy through the following tips.
All the sections of IBPS Clerk Mains are compulsory as there exists sectional cut off. You must be having the detailed syllabus with you, right? Go through it and divide your strong and weak topics. You are given only 30 minutes to complete 40 MCQs. English section is broadly divided into 4 parts
The level and number of questions in IBPS Clerk Mains is higher than that of IBPS Clerk Prelims. So, you need a solid grasp of concepts.
The passage is likely based on Banking & Economy, Social Issues, Moral Stories and Business etc. This year, it is expected that passage may come on Demonetization. So, it would be much better, if you’re prepared for it. As the length of the passage is small to medium, a habit of fast reading can be quickly developed.
Read the questions first and then read the passage, as it gives the idea of the answer. Note down the difficult words while practicing passages. Learn the synonyms and antonyms of the words. It improves the Verbal Ability section too.
The 3 main topics that come under Grammar section on which questions are asked- Error Spotting, Phrase Replacement and Fill in the Blanks. Use “English Is Easy” book and it really makes your English grammar easy. Learn basic concepts such as Tenses, Articles, Degree of Comparison, Subject-Verb Agreement, Prepositions, Nouns, Adverbs and Conjunctions etc.
Practice at least 30-40 questions from each topic for solid preparation for IBPS Clerk Mains exam. Give mock tests on regular basis and pay attention to the solutions.
Cloze Test, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting and Phrase Replacement are the subsections under Vocabulary section. It is not a one day practice to be an expert of Vocabulary. Practice cloze tests in mock tests. Check your status in Vocabulary daily and analyze it for your better preparation.
Para jumbles fall under this section. Yes, that only section that we did in our school days. There is no straight forward approach in solving para jumbles. Only a great practice can lead you to achieve good marks in this section. If you’re good in vocabulary then you’re too close to be an expert in para jumbles.

Questions from Input-Output can be asked in IBPS Clerk Mains as they were not asked in the IBPS Clerk Prelims. In IBPS PO Mains, new types of Syllogism based MCQs were asked, better to practice them.
Make sure, you attempt the Puzzle section at the end and before solving the puzzle, read the based questions first and then solve the puzzles.
The probability of knowing IBPS Clerk Mains General Awareness (GA) is ½- either you know or you don’t.
