How To Prepare English For IBPS Clerk Mains?

All the sections of IBPS Clerk Mains are compulsory as there exists sectional cut off. You must be having a detailed syllabus with you, right? Go through it and divide your strong and weak topics. You are given only 30 minutes to complete 40 MCQs. English section is broadly divided into 4 parts

Practice as much as possible IBPS Clerck Pre (New Mock Test) for free before the exam

Reading Comprehension

The passage is likely based on Banking & Economy, Social Issues, Moral Stories and Business etc. This year, it is expected that passage may come on Demonetization. So, it would be much better, if you’re prepared for it. As the length of the passage is small to medium, a habit of fast reading can be quickly developed.

Read the questions first and then read the passage, as it gives the idea of the answer. Note down the difficult words while practising passages. Learn the synonyms and antonyms of the words. It improves the Verbal Ability section too.

The 3 main topics that come under the Grammar section on which questions are asked- Error Spotting, Phrase Replacement and Fill in the Blanks. Use the “English Is Easy” book and it really makes your English grammar easy. Learn basic concepts such as Tenses, Articles, Degree of Comparison, Subject-Verb Agreement, Prepositions, Nouns, Adverbs and Conjunctions etc.

Practice at least 30-40 questions from each topic for solid preparation for IBPS Clerk Mains exam. Give mock tests on a regular basis and pay attention to the solutions.

Cloze Test, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting and Phrase Replacement are the subsections under Vocabulary section. It is not a one day practice to be an expert of Vocabulary. Practice cloze tests in mock tests. Check your status in Vocabulary daily and analyze it for your better preparation.

Verbal Ability

Para jumbles fall under this section. Yes, that only section that we did in our school days. There is no straight forward approach in solving para jumbles. Only a great practice can lead you to achieve good marks in this section. If you’re good in vocabulary then you’re too close to be an expert in para jumbles.

  • Arrangement & Pattern

  • Input-Output
  • Syllogisms

If you can solve 20-30 questions in 20 minutes, you are on the safe path of fetching more marks. Smart practice can only lead you success in Reasoning.

However, Seating Arrangement puzzles can be more complicated as per the previous years’ analysis. Blood Relations is added to make it a complex puzzle. Also, MCQs from Coding & Analogy is more probable than fictitious language.

To excel Blood Relations, you should practice coded blood relation questions more than that of family tree type. Questions from Input-Output can be asked in IBPS Clerk Mains as they were not asked in the IBPS Clerk Prelims. In IBPS PO Mains, new types of Syllogism based MCQs were asked, better to practice them.

Make sure, you attempt the Puzzle section at the end and before solving the puzzle, read the based questions first and then solve the puzzles.
