The Union Public Commission holds the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) in three stages viz.

  • IES Preliminary
  • IES Mains and
  • Interview/ Personality Test

The first to papers are written examinations, whereas Personality Test is a one on one round. Candidates qualifying Prelims and Mains have to appear for the Interview round for final selection.

Important Tips for Interview day of IES

  1. Dress formally (wear formals, suits, etc.) for the interview.
  2. Reach interview venue at least 60 minutes before the allocated time
  3. Whenever appearing for an interview, always show a smiling face
  4. Be confident. Believe in yourself. You have worked hard and you will achieve your goal
  5. Carry all the required documents and photocopies as there will be a document verification round before going to interview
  6. After the document verification, you will get the chance to meet the group members.
  7. Make sure you don’t carry any items to interview hall.

  9. Don’t panic in front of the interview panel.
