UPSC IES 2020 was successfully conducted on January 5, 2020. The authorities will release the cutoff for all the stages in online mode as per the candidate’s stage, category, and subject. A minimum qualifying percentage has been fixed by the commission for both prelims and main exam. Candidates are appointed under the departments of Civil, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication and Mechanical disciplines. To qualify UPSC IES 2020 Prelims, the qualifying cutoff for General, OBC, SC and ST candidates is 15% of total marks, whereas for PH category it is 10%. Similarly, for mains, the qualifying cutoff is 20% for General, OBC, SC and ST. The final merit list is prepared by adding IES Prelims marks, Mains and Personality Test scores.

IES 2020 Cutoff Details

Cut Offs are classified in the following categories-

  • Stage 1 – Cut off marks out of 500 – includes only objective paper marks
  • Stage 2 – Cut off marks out of 1100 – includes objective paper and also conventional paper marks
  • Stage 3 – Cut off marks out of 1300 – includes objective paper, conventional paper and personality paper marks

UPSC IES 2020 : Selection Procedure

In order to get recruited under any government discipline, engineering aspirants are required to clear 3 stages. They are as follows:

  • The first is the preliminary round which promotes a candidate to the second stage. Check  IES Prelims Cut Off
Note: Take note that marks obtained in the prelim round will not be calculated in the final selection.
  • The next stage is UPSC IES Prelims followed by final stage. Mains exam is conducted in 2 parts that are written examination and personal interview.
  • It is a 3 hour written test and the ones qualifying it are called for personal interview or personality test. Check  IES Exam Pattern
  • Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their past qualification and personal records.
  • The board examines their personality and suitability for the job they have applied for.
