The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the banking examination every year to hire Scale 1, 2 officers as well as office assistants. The notification is out and the recruitment application has commenced from July1, 2020. The end date for the application process has been set at July 21, 2020. Job Profile of the IBPS RRB Officers

The officers are placed in regional rural banks. Based on the position, the job profile differs.

Office Assistant

This is a management position and the person appointed in this post performs the following bank functions:

  • Inquiry counter management: He/She provides all related information to the bank account of a customer and answers their query relating to the account.
  • Withdrawal management: They are present at the cash counter, disposing withdrawal cash to the customers.
  • Receipt management: They manage the monetary receipts like cash, DDs, cheques, etc.
  • Email management: They answer emails in for the bank and also issue cheques to the customers as per the delivery address.

Scale-1,2, and 3 Officers

  • Banking activities: They manage the functions of the bank and ensure that all activities are performed on time without any delay.
  • Loan disbursement and repayment: They are involved in promoting the various loan programs and its transparency among the farmers along with disbursement of the credits. They also maintain official records of the farmers availing loans, ensure timely payment of the loan and take alternate actions if the loans are not paid, such as mortgaging the properties.
  • Credit profiling: They also check the capability of the loan taker to repay the loans and avoid the conversion of the loan to NPA or non=performing asset.
  • Communication: Being a rural bank, its officers are directly linked with the local people or masses, thus enabling them to take forward the different banking schemes and policies to them at ease.
  • Auditing: They also maintain the annual financial sheet of the bank and assess the annual bank report. They create the audit reports and compare them with previous year reports to get a larger view of the transactions made, NPAs created, loans disbursed., and so on.
  • Bank scheme implementation: There are many programs and schemes that are released by the central govt keeping in mind the rural people. In this case, the officers have a great role to play. They manage the distribution of the cash to the rural people that is linked with the scheme and lists out beneficiaries for it as well.

The training period is for 6 months (which can be extended up to 1 year). In case of the RRB Office Assistant, with increasing experience and deputation they can be promoted to the position of an Officer. Even the chances are quite high for getting promoted to higher managerial levels.
