Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts an online entrance examination called IBPS RRB examination for the aspirants seeking employment in the Regional Rural Banks.

The pattern of IBPS RRB 2018 examination is different for candidates seeking employment as Office Assistants, Officers Scale I and Officers Scale II and Scale III. Aspirants for the post of Office Assistants need to be successful in two examinations, namely, IBPS RRB Preliminary exam followed by IBPS RRB Mains Examination.

IBPS RRB 2018 will comprise two papers- Prelims and Main. Candidates aiming for the post of Officers Scale I must go one step further after the Preliminary Exam and Mains Exam. The shortlisted candidates for the post of the Officers Scale I will be called in for a Personal Interview for the final selection.

IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam, to be conducted in the month of November 2018, comprises 80 questions worth 1 mark each and consists of two sections, namely Reasoning and Numerical Ability. All sections have equal weightage, there is 0.25 mark deduction for every wrong answer and the duration of Preliminary Exam is 45 minutes. IBPS RRB Mains examination, conducted in second week of November, 2018, is for 200 marks. There are five sections that candidates must attempt, namely Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English/Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge and the duration of the exam is 2 hours. Similar to Preliminary examination pattern, there is negative marking of 1/4th or 0.25 for every wrong answer. Other details regarding IBPS RRB Exam Pattern have been mentioned here.

IBPS RRB Preliminary Examinations is an online test consisting of two subjects, Reasoning and Numerical Ability. Each section has 40 questions and duration of the exam is 45 minutes. Each section is worth 40 marks and the negative mark deducted for wrong answer is 0.25 marks.

IBPS RRB Main and Single Online Entrance Examination Pattern

IBPS RRB Main and Single Online Entrance Examination is an online test comprising five subjects, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General/Financial Awareness, Language and Computer Knowledge. Duration of the examination is 2 hours. Reasoning and Numerical Ability (Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation) section has 40 questions and is for 50 marks each. General/Financial Awareness and Language sections are worth 40 marks. Computer Knowledge comprises 40 questions and is for 20 marks. Penalty for wrong answer is 1/4th of the total marks allotted.

IBPS RRB Examination Syllabus

Candidates applying for different posts amongst Office Assistants, Officers Scale I and Officers Scale II and Scale III, must appear for IBPS RRB examinations. Those who are applying for the post of Officers Scale II and Scale III need to attempt Single Online Entrance Test, while the candidates applying for the post of Office Assistants and Officers Scale I need to appear for IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam initially and then qualify for IBPS RRB Main Examination. Subjects covered in IBPS RRB Single Online Entrance Test and IBPS RRB Main Examinations include Reasoning, Numerical Ability (Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation), Financial Awareness, English/Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge. For candidates applying for Specialist Cadre Officer Scale II, the Language section is worth 20 marks. Questions are designed to test candidate’s command over the language:

General Instructions

  1. Carry your admit card, affixed with recent passport size photograph, and a photo identification proof along with a copy of the photo identification proof to examination center.
  2. Make sure that you do not end up applying for more than one post (Scale I or Scale II or Scale III).
  3. In case the aspirant needs a scribe, he/she must make sure that scribe is not an applicant of IBPS RRB exam. If scribe is found to be an applicant of IBPS RRB exam, both the candidate and the scribe shall be immediately disqualified.
  4. Candidates must be at correct examination center on given date on time. No re-examination will be conducted under any circumstances.
  5. Those who are appearing for the examination must know their roll number, examination center location and the examination center code.
  6. Candidates, at all costs, must follow the instructions given by invigilators during the examination.
  7. Rough work must be done in separate additional sheets. Candidates must not use answer scripts to do any sort of rough calculation. Upon completion of the exam, candidates must return rough work additional sheets along with the answer scripts.
