The police constable recruitment process for Puducherry union territory is delayed over directions from Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi. Kiran Bedi has planned to defer police recruitment till further notice. The decision was taken to resolve issues about the changes made in the recruitment process. Discrepancies were raised due to a change in conduct mode of police recruitment examination from digital to manual. Governor stated that a new admit card will be issued to aspirants soon. The police recruitment process was scheduled to commence on November 04, 2020.

On August 20, an official note was released stating that physical tests for police recruitment will be conducted in bio-metric or digital mode. Though due to the absence of 400-meter tracks and swimming pool in the outskirts of Puducherry, physical test in digital mode was not possible. Now the exam will be conducted in manual mode with the help of the NIC team.
Lt Governor has stated that the police recruitment division will now revise the dates for the physical standard test, physical efficiency test, and written test. Aspirants have to regularly visit the official website of the police recruitment division i.e. recruitment.py.gov.in for further updates about the revised dates. Earlier with the help of the NIC team, the recruitment process for the post of jail warder was conducted manually. Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, stated officially that there will be the appointment of senior officials to supervise manual test for recruitment to all posts.
