Union Public Service Commission is all set to conduct CAPF 2020 exam on August 09, 2020. All candidates who have registered will need CAPF Preparation tips to have a full proof preparation plan in order to qualify the exam. CAPF Selection Process includes two stages i.e. Written Test and Personal Interview.

Candidates are finally recruited as Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Force composing of Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

  • A total of 323 seats will be filled through CAPF this year.
  • The 2 tiers of selection consist of written examination and personality test/ interview.
  • Medical examination-physical test is mandatory for all applicants.
  • CAPF is a highly competitive exam and lakhs of students apply for it every year.

CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) is a national level exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission every year. Aspirants must undergo 2 tiers of exam to qualify and get short-listed for recruitment in CAPF.

CAPF 2019 Selection Procedure

CAPF Exam Pattern takes place in 2 stages of written exam and a compulsory medical test. The stages of selection are mentioned below:

  • The 2 stages of selection are a written test and a personality test/interview.
  • Those aspirants who qualify in the first stage will be eligible for the physical test.
  • In the final stage, individuals who have been successful in the first 2 rounds will be called for a personal interview.
  • The final selection will be made based on an applicant’s performance in all the stages.

Written Test is the first stage of the exam. The written exam will be held via 2 papers i.e. Paper 1 (General Ability and Intelligence) and Paper 2 (Essay, General Studies and Comprehension).

  • Paper 1 consists of 125 objective type questions and each correct answer will be awarded +2 marks. The duration of exam is 120 minutes.
  • Paper 2 consists of 20 subjective type questions with 200 total obtainable marks. Duration of this exam is 180 minutes.

CAPF 2019 Preparation Tips for Written Exam

This is the most competitive stage of the exam and a large number of candidates are eliminated in this test. Candidates must follow the UPSC CAPF Syllabus issued on the official website for best preparation. It consists of 2 papers. Participants must prepare for the written test well in advance. They can refer to the tips mentioned below:

  • Stick to the basics: Individuals should refer to NCERT books of class 8 to 12. It is the primary study material of CAPF exam. Complete the syllabus in these books and revise it from time to time. They can also refer to NIOS textbooks. After applicants study thoroughly from these books then they must refer to other reference books.
  • Read Newspaper daily: The best newspaper to be referred to when studying for UPSC exams is the Hindu. Aspirants must make sure they read the newspaper daily as this will make them aware of the general events happening in the world. A number of questions regarding current affairs are asked in Paper 1 of the written test. It will also help participants to write the essay in Paper 2 and will increase the speed of reading.
  • Focus on Paper 2: Candidates must focus equally on both papers. Paper 2 is relatively scoring and good command over the language can help students a lot. They must also prepare well for the essay. The essay carries 80 marks. Participants should manage their time well as Paper 2 is a time consuming section.
  • Solve Previous Years’ Papers: Aspirants must solve previous years’ papers as and when they can. It will give them an idea about the kind of questions asked as also about topics they need to study better. It will also assist them in time management skills.
  • Learn simple tricks: Participants must learn new ways and tricks of solving similar questions so that they save time. The time saved can be utilized in attempting other difficult questions.

CAPF 2020 Preparation Tips for Physical Test

Applicants who clear the cut off for the written test will proceed to the round of Physical test. Keep these following tips in mind to perform well in this round:

  • Physical test will include assessment of physical activities like running, long jump, test of strength, exercises, etc. Candidates must exercise regularly to increase their stamina and speed.
  • Candidates will undergo a medical test after the physical assessment. They must be medically fit and sound. They must exercise on a regular basis and eat healthy.
  • Applicants are advised to get a thorough medical check-up done before the actual Medical examination. This will help them know about any anomalies in their body and how they can correct it in time.

CAPF 2020 Preparation Tips for Interview

The final stage of CAPF is a personal interview. The interview is conducted to assess an applicant’s mental awareness and decision making skills. Candidates must start CAPF Interview Preparation immediately after the results are out. Candidates will be asked various questions based on conditions and ongoing events. Some tips are mentioned below to help them perform better in the personal interview round:

  • Aspirants must dress up properly and should sport a formal attire. They must have short, trim hair and a clean-shaven face. The appearance of individuals should be kept in mind as it is a defense-related interview.
  • They must be polite and sensitive while entering the room and taking a seat. They must ask for the examiner’s permission before doing the same and should exhibit good manners.
  • Candidates must be confident in their answers. The examiners will try to confuse applicants with the details of events but individuals must answer confidently. They must not engage in a serious debate even if tempted by the examiners. They must remain calm and polite at all times.
  • Be aware of the current events happening in the country. Conditional questions will be asked during the interview to know the applicant’s general aptitude and awareness.
  • Aspirants must politely tell the examiners if they do not know the answer to a question.

Sample Questions of Interview

Questions in Interview can be related to anything such as General awareness or personal. Here are some of the sample questions which may be asked:

Question 1: What do you know about Shahid Afridi? Why was he was recently in news?

Answer: Shahid is a Pakistani cricketer. He has played more than 350 Internationals, He is known for his aggressive batting style, and holds the record for the fastest ODI century. Recently he had won man of match award against west indies for his outstanding performance taking 7 wickets and scoring a half century .(14th July 2013 ). Also he became 1st player to take 350 ODI wickets and score more than 7000 ODI runs.

Question 2: What is Telengana issue? What are specific problems of Telengana? Give examples and few facts too?

Answer: Telangana is a new proposed state to be formed out of the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. The proposed new state corresponds to the Telugu-speaking portions of the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad. Problems are Lack of Funds, Agriculture, Jobs and Backwardness.

Question 3: What is ozone layer and its significance? Where does it lie?

Answer: The ozone layer is a layer in Earth’s atmosphere which absorbs most of the Sun’s UV radiation. Thus it protects us from harmful UV rays. It lies in Stratosphere.

Question 4: Tell us something unique about your home district/ city? Also what’s famous about yellow stone park?

Answer: My native district is sonebhadra (UP). It is the only district in India which shared its border with 5 states. Salkhan fossil park is a geological heritage of sonebhadra district . the ages of these fossils as estimated by geologist is around 1400 million years. Yellow stone national park of USA has Old faithful geyser and this geyser blows out water at a specific intervals.

Question 5: Why do you want to join CAPF?

Answer: I understand that society needed an enforcement measure to uphold the laws that have been set. I consider police presence is the best tool to deter crime, creating a safe environment for everyone. Being in the police force gives me a chance to make a difference in people’s lives. It also helps in Contributing positively to society.

Question 6: What is RPF and GRP? Explain difference between both?

Answer: The Indian Railway Protection Force (RPF) is a part of Central Armed Police Force charged with protecting the Indian Railways whereas Government Railway Police is also charged with protecting the Indian Railways. RPF comes under central government where as GRP under state.
