State Bank of India is recruiting candidates for the post of Specialist Officer in various departments in SBI. Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria and who wish to join SBI as a Specialist Officer, can register themselves online for the recruitment process.

SBI conducts the recruitment process for SBI Specialist Officer for the candidates in various branches of State Bank of India. The latest notification about the SBI Online Application is released on August 22, 2017.The SBI SO Online Registration shuts on September 5, 2017.

Candidates who have applied or those who are thinking of applying in the SBI SO examination 2017, first they need to understand SBI SO Exam Pattern 2017.

SBI SO 2017 Exam pattern

Exam will be conducted in the online based test. The paper comprises of Objective type Multi Choice Questions. Total 135 minutes will be provided to attempt the examination out of which 45 minutes will be provided to attempt questions from professional subjects. The total number of papers, marks allotted per paper, duration of the exam etc. has been illustrated below:

Quantitative Aptitude: For this section, focus more on Averages, ratios and proportions, Pie charts, tables, bar charts, simplification, profit & loss, speed & distance, LCM & HCF, mensuration, etc. Now a day they are making Data Interpretation questions from the areas Probability, Time and work, simple interest & compound interest, etc.

English language: For this section, focus more on Vocabulary, Antonyms, Synonyms, Sentence Arrangement, fill in the Blanks, Locating and Correcting the errors, Reading Comprehension and Cloze test.

Reasoning: For this section, focus more on Classification, Input and Output, Seating Arrangement, Ranking, Coding - Decoding, Time Sequence, Decision Making, Course of Action, Cause and Effect, Statements Conclusions and Statements Assumptions.

Professional Knowledge: To be eligible for being short-listed for interview, you have to score really good in this section, besides scoring equal to or above the minimum qualifying marks in other tests. You will get 50 question of 100 marks. They will consider these marks in deciding your merit. So, this section is the most crucial and will decide your fate.

  • Chartered Accountant: Accounting Standards, Accounting Guidance Note, Financial Report Standards, Indian Accounting Standards, Corporate Financial Reporting, Accounting and Reporting of Financial Instrument, Share-based Payment, Liability Valuation, Share, Business valuation, Inflation Accounting, Indian Capital Market, Mutual Funds, Foreign Exchanges, Auditing etc.
  • Statistician: Basic Statistical Methods and Inference, Uni-Variate Data, Bi-Variate Data, Time series forecasting, Sampling Concepts, Sampling Distribution, Estimations Theory, Simple Regression, Multiple Regression, Variance Analysis, Banking-Insurance, Financial Market, Foreign Exchanges, Forecasting Portfolio etc.
  • Systems Officer / IT Officer: Computer Networks and Basic Programing Languages (C, C++, Java), Data Base Management Systems (DBMS), Basic concepts of Software and Hardware, Data Structures, Computer Organization, Computer Networks, Network Programming, Algorithms, Digital Electronics, Web Technologies, Information Systems and Software Engineering etc.
  • Law Officer: Banking Regulated Laws, Banking Security Laws, Negotiable Instruments, Ethics and Corporate Governance in Banking, Financial Analysis, Banking Operational Laws, Banker-Customer Relations, Electronic Banking, Loans and Advances, Compliance and Legal Aspects, Security Types and Regulatory Frameworks etc.

Important aspects of SBI SO 2017 Exam

  • Specialist Officer Test will be a computer based test.
  • Mode of the Specialist Officer Examination will be online.
  • Candidates have to score minimum qualifying marks to crack this exam.
  • There would be negative marking of 1/4 or 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • Candidates may give the answers in Hindi or English as per their wish.
  • Only those candidates are shortlisted for interview that score marks equal to or more than SBI SO Cut Off Marks.
  • Candidates may choose Hindi or English language for Interview.
  • Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks in Professional Knowledge Test and Interview or Interview.
