November 19, 2020: The admit card for UPSC IAS Main 2020 will be released soon. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is releasing the admit cards for all the exams due to the coronavirus pandemic. The admit card for the IAS Prelims was released a month before the exam and the result was declared within 20 days.
The IAS main 2020 exam is scheduled to be conducted from January 8, 2021. The exam will be descriptive type and will be conducted in pen and paper mode. The IAS Main exam consists of two stages, namely the IAS Main written exam and the IAS interview. The marks secured in these two stages will be added to form the final merit.
The IAS Main Exam comprises of nine essay type papers. There will be two language papers which will be qualifying in nature and the marks for these papers will not be considered for the final merit. The candidates must essentially qualify the language papers. The answer sheets for the other papers will only be evaluated if a candidate qualifies the language papers.

The IAS Main result is usually declared within two months of the exam and the qualified candidates are called for the interview at the UPSC office in New Delhi.
