After the court hearing today, i.e on December 18, The Supreme Court has granted the permission to the Central Government to decide whether an extra chance must be given to the UPSC candidates for the UPSC Prelims 2021 exam. The court has also directed the government to give a decision by January 2021.
A plea was filed by a group of UPSC IAS Exam 2020 aspirants who sought the help of the high court for an extra attempt in the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2021. However, the court has announced that the next hearing regarding this plea will be held on January 11, 2021.
The plea was heard by the bench comprising Justices BR Gavai, AM Khanwilkar, and Krishnan Murari. According to the plea by 24 CSE aspirants, some of them were facing age bar disqualification, while some who were appearing for their last attempt. If an extra attempt is granted, such candidates who have failed to appear for the exams can also be able to reappear for the same.
This is the 3rd hearing, the plea filed by the aspirants for an extra attempt to appear for the UPSC Prelims 2021 exams. The 1st hearing was held on September 30, while the 2nd was held on October 12 in the highest court. During the 1st hearing, the Supreme Court had refused to postpone the UPSC Civil Service Examination (CSE) Prelims 2020. However, during the 2nd hearing on October 12, the court was adjourned.
Recently, UPSC has officially released the admit card for the UPSC civil service Mains exam 2020 today, i.e on December 18, 2020 on its official UPSC website. The commission has decided to conduct the UPSC Civil Service Mains exam 2020 on January 8, 9, 10, 16, & 17, 2021. The aforesaid exam will be held in 2 shifts, i.e Morning shift from 9 AM to 12 noon and Afternoon shift from 2 PM to 5 PM. It has been announced that the admit cards for the UPSC Civil Service Mains exam 2020 will be available from December 17, 2020 till January 17, 2021 on the official UPSC website @upsc.gov.in.
