IAS (UPSC CSE) Prelims: Indian Polity and Governance Exam Tips & Strategies

Candidates must follow the below given tips & tricks to excel in the aforementioned section of UPSC IAS Prelims:

  • Candidates must have a bundle of resources in terms of reference materials. They must move in an order for reading the reference.
  • They must start their preparation with the NCERT book named ‘Constitution at Work’. This will strengthen the knowledge of the Constitution and its philosophies that are implemented in various parts of the World. After this, they should read the Constitution of India and focus on the meanings and details of each and every word of the Constitution.
  • Indian Polity (M. Laxmikanth) must be given the next preference as it will specify and detail about the legalities and Indian procedures.
  • Newspapers and editorials must be read after the Indian Polity book. Newspapers like ‘The Hindu’ will make the preparation more powerful.
  • DD Basu book must be read alongside the M.Laxmi book as it will give a cairty on the fundamental rights & related concepts.
  • The candidate must next go through the pending acts and bills in the House. They must go through the websites of Rajya Sabha and PRS to gain more insights about the same.
  • NITI Aayog website and its reports can also prove fruitful and will save time in getting information about state government plans & sections and their execution.
  • The aspirant must take regular mock tests once the whole syllabus is covered.
