February 25, 2021: Union Public Service Commission has added Leh as an exam center for the upcoming Civil Service Examination 2021 for candidates from Union Territory Ladakh.
According to UT Ladakh Advisor Umang Narula, Union Public Service Commission Secretary Vasudha Mishra has announced the decision to add Leh as an exam center for Ladakh candidates.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was set to release the UPSC IAS 2021 notification for interested applicants on February 10, 2021. However, due to the pending case in Supreme Court, the notification release schedule was postponed for 15 more days.
As per the Supreme Court orders, IAS eligibility criteria will be updated for applicants. Additionally, the UPSC and Union Government of India will provide an extra attempt to those applicants who fulfill the age eligibility as of 2021 but have exhausted their number of attempts.
In accordance with the data release, the UPSC has a total of 72 exam center cities across the country. This year, Leah will be the 73rd center where preliminary examinations for civil services will commence.
For UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Exam 2021, the Leh exam center will be coordinated and supervised by Leh Deputy Commissioner. The coordinating supervisor will have the responsibility to ensure the accessibility, infrastructure, and management of the exam center as per the prescribed parameters by UPSC.
Keeping in mind the coronavirus pandemic, strict safety measures, along with protocols, and social distancing will be followed during the exam commencement. Students will be requested to wear masks and follow the safety guidelines to ensure a smooth exam commencement.
As per the reports, the UPSC Civil Service Examination will begin on June 27, 2021, in various IAS exam centers across the country for registered candidates. This year, a total of 800 students are expected to appear for the Union Public Service Commission Civil Service Preliminary Exam 2021 from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
As per the exam secured by the applicants in the civil service examination, they will be further called for mains examination, and interview rounds. Applicants who clear all three stages of selection will be recruited for various vacancies available under the UPSC.
