IAS Admit Card is published by UPSC on its official website three to four weeks prior to the exam. The admit card issued by UPSC is for Preliminary round of examination (the exam consists of three rounds Preliminary, Mains, and Interview) only and a separate admit card is issued for IAS Main (only for candidates qualifying subsequent rounds). Admit Card for IAS 2018 is expected to be published by fourth week of May 2018.

IAS 2018 Admit Card is like a gateway for candidates to enter the exam hall and take exam. Candidates won’t be allowed to take exam if they fail to carry admit card with them. Thus, candidates should download and take a printout of the admit card well in advance. IAS is conducted in two stage- Preliminary and Main followed by interview of shortlisted candidates

Highlights of IAS 2018 Admit Card

Candidates would be required to download the IAS 2018 admit card from the official website of UPSC. No dispatching of admit cards would take place that is i.e. admit cards would not be sent through physical mode on the candidates registered address.  Only E-copy of the admit card would be published and candidates would have to carry a printout of the same to exam venue along with a valid Photo ID. Dates for releasing admit card

Though expected date of availability of admit card is stipulated to be first week of June, 2018 the exact dates would be notified by the conducting authority, UPSC. Generally, admit card are made available 3 to 4 weeks before the exam. Candidates would get notifications through their registered mail or mobile number. Collegedunia would also inform you about the same as soon the official notification is published on the official website.

Steps to download admit card

Candidates should download the admit cards within the stipulated time period. At the end of the stipulated time window the link to download the admit card would be disabled and candidates would not be able to download the same. Candidates should follow the following steps to download the IAS 2018 admit card:

  • Go to the official website of UPSC – www.upsc.gov.in
  • Click on “Admit cards”.
  • Now click on “Civil services preliminary admit card”
  • A log in window will appear.
  • Fill in your credentials like date of birth, registration number and captcha code to log in.
  • Admit card will appear on the screen.
  • Download this admit card and take a printout of the same.

Details contained in the admit card

IAS 2018 admit card along with a valid photo ID proof is a document containing vital information relating to the exam. Following details are mentioned in IAS 2018 admit card:

  • Registration Number
  • Roll number
  • Details of exam venue.
  • Time of exam.
  • Subject for which exam is to be taken.
  • Slot-wise division of exam.
  • Medium of Language for exam.
  • Name of candidate.
  • Parent’s/guardian name.

Candidates failing to carry either of the two documents that is admit card or valid photo ID proof would not be allowed to enter the exam hall and take the exam.

Discrepancy in admit card (if any)

Candidates are required to download admit card within the stipulated time period provided by conducting authority. Link for downloading admit card would get disabled after given time. Thus, candidates must download the admit card within the time allotted for the same.

In case candidate finds that any incorrect detail is mentioned in his/her admit card or any discrepancy is there in the downloaded admit card then, he/she should immediately contact UPSC office through the various communication channels provided on the website (e-mail, toll free number, nearest candidate centre, candidate helpline etc.). Discrepancy (if any) would not be rectified after the exam is over.

Documents required on Exam Day

Candidates appearing for IAS 2018 exam would be required to carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the exam venue. Failing to carry these documents candidates would not be allowed to enter the exam hall to take exam. Following documents are accepted as valid photo ID:

  • Driving License
  • Aadhaar card
  • Voter ID card
  • School/College photo Id
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Admit card issued by the respective board for the board exam.

Apart from this, any other document issued by some competent authority and carrying photo of the candidate would be treated as valid identity proof.

Important guidelines for exam day

Candidates are required to adhere to the important instructions provided on a separate page attached to IAS 2018 admit card which is to be downloaded from the official website. For your reference, we have mentioned those guidelines here as well:

  • Candidates must bring two passport size coloured photograph along with admit card and original photo ID proof.
  • No electronic device such as mobile, calculator or other wireless equipment is allowed in the exam premises.
  • Applicants must bring their own stationery like pen/pencil, eraser etc. for the exam.
  • It is advisable to reach the exam venue 35 to 40 minutes before the scheduled time for commencement of the exam.
  • Candidates would not be allowed to leave the exam hall before completion of exam time i.e. 3 hours.
  • Parents and guardians are not allowed to enter the exam hall/venue.
