The Delhi Metro services will start from 6 AM for the UPSC candidates on October 4, 2020. This measure is taken to ensure that every candidate can avail smooth and abundant transportation and reach the exam venue safely. In a statement by DMRC on September 20, 2020, it is stated that the regular services with the previous time table starting from 8 AM on Phase 3 sections or on Sundays will continue on this day as well.
The Metro Services were suspended during March since the outbreak of COVID-19 and is being slowly set back to action in the recent times. This is done after taking several precautions like limited entry and exit points, closed token counters, implementing thermal scanning, and thorough sanitization to ensure the risks of COVID-19 while travelling are minimized. Apart from the regular frontline staffs in the metro stations of Delhi, DMRC has deployed 1000 more officials and staffs across the line and the networks to guide and assist the passenger in this new norms of travel which will take some time to settle in.
The UPSC Prelims for 2020 has been postponed a couple of times due to the pandemic and the date has been finalized on October 4, 2020. With the exam starting from 9:30 AM and reporting time being till 10 minutes before the exam, candidates will need to reach the venue way ahead of time for all the entry formalities to be done in time. The measure to provide metros since 6 AM in the morning hence, will be a welcome relief for many who has to travel a longer distance and do not have the privilege of availing private vehicles.
