For all the candidates who were awaiting the UPSC IAS Prelims Result 2016, can now take a sigh of relief! The UPSC IAS 2016 Results for its preliminary round were declared on September 16, 2016. Nearly 4 lac students appear for this exam each year. This year, a total of 15,008 candidates have qualified in the preliminary examination.

The exam is conducted annually by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This year the Civil Services Prelims round was held on August 7, 2016. The Civil Services Prelims Result consists of the candidate’s roll no., who are eligible to appear for Civil Services Mains Exam. Once they qualify the Mains round, they appear for the Personality test round. After qualifying all the above rounds, the Final Result of Civil Services 2016 indicates the list of candidates who are finally recommended for appointment.

UPSC Civil Services Steps to Check Result

The UPSC IAS exam is one of the toughest in our country and we are sure you all must be anxious to know how you have performed. To check your exam result for the prelims round, follow the below steps:

  1. Visit UPSC’s Official Website
  2. You will see a “What’s New” section on the right side
  3. Click ‘Result of CS(P) 2016: Candidates qualified for admission in CS(M) 2016 Examination’
  4. A new page will open
  5. Click the PDF file put under documents
  6. A PDF containing your CS Exam Prelims Result 2016 will open
  7. Check your roll number
  8. Take a printout and save the file for future use

The candidates whose roll numbers appear in the list can happily start preparing for the Mains and the Personal Interview round. The UPSC Mains Exam is scheduled for December 3, 2016.

UPSC Civil Services Exam details 2016

This year, the total number of vacancies to be filled upon the UPSC IAS Exam is around 1709. Candidates called for the UPSC Mains Examination, and Personality Test (Interview) is around twelve to thirteen times, and two times the number of vacancies respectively. Thus, we are assuming to have about 2800-3000 candidates who qualify the USPC IAS Mains Exam 2016.

Candidates may also note that the UPSC IAS Admit Card, along with the time table of the Mains Examination, will be uploaded on the Commission’s Website around 2 weeks before the commencement of the examination. Changes, if any, in the postal address or email address or mobile number after submission of the DAF (CSM), may be communicated to the Commission at once. Candidates are also informed that marks, cut off marks and answer keys of screening test held through CS (P) Examination, 2016 will be uploaded on the UPSC’s Official website, only after the entire process of CS(M) Examination, 2016 is over i.e. after the declaration of final result of Civil Services Examination, 2016.

UPSC Civil Services Result

The Result of the Civil Services Examination is declared in three stages:

  1. UPSC CSAT Prelims Result- This is the first stage of selection in the services. Once a candidate qualifies the first stage, he is eligible to sit in the next round i.e. the Mains Exam.
  2. UPSC IAS Mains Result- This is the second stage of the whole process. Once a candidate qualifies the IAS Mains Round, he is eligible for the Personality Test round. This enables him to apply for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and other Central Services (Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’).
  3. UPSC IAS Final Result- The Final List of selected candidates, based upon their Mains and Personality Test performance, will be created. These candidates will be finally recommended for appointment.

UPSC Civil Services Cutoff Trends

Both the papers A & B in the Mains Exam, are qualifying in nature. Candidates must obtain at least 25% marks in Indian language, and 25% marks in English for his / her marks in Papers I to VII to be taken into consideration. About UPSC

The Union Public Service Commission is India’s central agency authorized to conduct the Civil Services Exam, Indian Forest Services Exam, Naval Academy Exam, Combined Defence Sevices Exam and many more. The candidates who successfully clear these exams are recruited in various governmental departments across India. Recruitment is made by one of the following three methods:
