A stenographer is someone who works in a courtroom or any legal proceedings corporate place and transcribes spoken words by typing them into a steno machine, a kind of shorthand typewriter. Fast and accurate typing skills are vital for a stenographer job. This year, SSC or Staff Selection Commission will release the official notification for Stenographer exam in the 1st week of October 2018.
This year, SSC Stenographer 2018 is expected to be conducted in November 2018 in computer-based mode. Candidates who are intermediate graduates can apply online for the post of Stenographer (Grade C and D). Last year, there were more than 1400 vacancies offered by SSC for the post.

All the Stenographer Grade C candidates will be posted in Ministries/Departments of Central Government.

According to current pay scales, the selected candidate would get a salary of around INR 23,000 p/m initially (can vary a little as per place of posting).
