How to prepare for DMRC SCTO Psycho Test?

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is a joint venture with equity participation of the Govt. of India along with Govt. of National Capital Territory of Delhi. The corporation recently published notification inviting applications for the post of Station Controller and Train Operator. The written exam of DMRC for the said post was conducted and results were published at its official website.

DMRC calls all the shortlisted candidates for Psychological test scheduled on April 02, 2017. The Psycho test will be conducted in five formats judging candidates’ various abilities and their aptitude through each format.

The age limit for applying is between 18 to 28 years. The selection process comprises of DMRC SCTO involves 4 stages:

  • Level 1 Written Test (2 papers)
  • Level 2 Psychology test
  • Level 3 Personal Interview
  • Level 4 Medical examination

DMRC SCTO/CRA Psycho Test Pattern

Psycho Test is scheduled for the qualified candidates of written Test. The qualified candidates are called for Psycho Test along with document verification process. The document verification is done to ensure that the candidates satisfy the requisite eligibility.

Post successful document verification, DMRC conducts Psycho Test in a single day window. The test is conducted in multiple formats in the following order.

  • Test 1: Embedded Figure Test
  • Test 2: Figures Association Test
  • Test 3: Memory Test
  • Test 4: Observation Test
  • Test 5 Personality/ Aptitude Test

Embedded Figure Test

The Embedded figure Test comprises 25 questions in which candidates are provided with a simple figure and among the listed options(complex figures), they have to select the one in which the simple is likely to be embedded.

Total Time Allotted: 10 Minutes

Figure Association Test

The Figure Association Test tests candidates’ ability to find a relation between fragments and list of complete figures. The candidates had to select one of the complete which is made up of the fragments given in the question.

Memory Test

The Test aims at analysing the memorizing capability of the candidates. The test includes a list of 21 picture-number combinations for first 150 seconds and will be given 350 seconds to sort the images on the basis of number in their response sheet. The test comprises two sets of question paper.

Observation Test

The observation test is conducted for testing candidates’ observational skills. The question comprises a list of images consisting multiple geometrical figures and candidates are required to select the one that matches with the question figure.

Personality/Aptitude Test

The Aptitude Test is conducted to analyse candidates’ aptitude and thought process. The questions asked are general and candidates are required to check the most appropriate answer from the list of given options. This tests candidates’ aptitude on the standards of required job profile.

DMRC SCTO/CRA Psycho Test Syllabus

The exam papers will be held on the day next to document verification. The exam papers will include the following:

  • It includes multiple choice questions, Hindi and English on Logical Ability, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and knowledge of trade.
  • The total number of questions include 120 with each carrying equal marks.
  • The paper includes negative marking and 1/3 marks will be deducted.
  • Paper- 2 will be of 45 minutes each.

Quantitative Aptitude: Number System, HCF, LCM, Simplification, Decimal Fractions, Ratio and Proportions, Unitary Method. Percentage, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Profit and Loss, Average. Simple and Compound Interest, Menstruation, Algebra, Data Interpretation.

Logical Ability / Reasoning: Questions based on -

Verbal: Series (Number & Alphabet), Age, Blood Relations, Direction test, Coding-Decoding. Arithmetical Reasoning, Decision Making etc.

Non-Verbal: Series, Mirror Images, Figures etc.

Knowledge of Discipline / Trade: The syllabus includes all the basic Knowledge about your discipline / trade.

DMRC Psycho Test Preparation Tips

  • Focus on comprehension passage and cloze test as they are simple and highly scoring. The candidate needs to focus on cloze test and they should read the whole paragraph completely. Once the candidate reads the complete paragraph they should fill in with suitable words.
  • The parts of speech include questions from preposition, adverb, conjunction, and verbs. The candidate has to fill the blanks and other questions. The candidate has to find error in the sentence.
  • For Direct and Indirect Speech and Active and Passive Speech the candidate can learn from any textbook.
  • For Verbal Ability preparation, the candidates need to focus on synonyms, antonyms and spelling corrections. It is recommended to learn atleast 10-15 words daily from any newspaper or magazine. The candidate should learn the spelling of difficult words also. The will help to score good in the section. However, the candidate should not focus much on this section and pay more attention on vocabulary.
  • Idioms Phrases and one word substitution preparation is only possible by by-hearting the words.
  • For this subject, you should learn subject verb agreements rules.

What’s after DMRC Psycho Test?

The Candidates qualified in the DMRC Psycho Test will be called for Interview Rounds followed by Medical Test. The Interview is conducted to get personal with the interviewee and know more about them apart from what already is known from the prior tests and its results. The Medical examination is done to check candidates medical fitness for the applied job profile.
