On Tuesday, December 15, Maharashtra MLCs went on to congratulate the Maha School Teacher, Ranjitsinh Disale from Solapur who recently won the USD 1 Million Global Teacher Prize. BJP Leader Pravin Darekar sought his appointment as a member of the Upper House. Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar, the council chairman, moved the motion in the upper house to congratulate Disale.
Disale, a Zilla Parishad Primary School Teacher from Paritewadi in Solapur district, Maharashtra, was recognized for his efforts to promote girls' education across the district and trigger a quick-response coded textbook revolution in India. Earlier, Disale had said that he would share his 50% of the prize money with his fellow finalists, to which Pravin Darekar hailed Disale for his generosity of contributing his prize money.
Darekar lauded Disale for bringing honor to the Solapur district, Maharashtra, and also India and praised Disale's generosity saying that Generous people like Disale are hard to find. He continued saying that when he visited Disale's home, he saw many other teachers present who demanded that Disale must be appointed as the member of council.
Further, If Disale is appointed as MLC, then it will enhance the dignity of the council and that's the reason he had recommended Disale's name to the council house to appoint him as a council member.
Anil Parab, State Parliamentary Affairs Minister congratulated Disale's decision of sharing his prize money and said that the Maharashtra government will make efforts to increase the quality of education, and the concepts of Disale will also be put forth. He added that Disale's work will be honored and his wisdom will be used for the betterment of Maharashtra. He also saluted Disale on the behalf of the entire state and extended his warm wishes for his future.
