The Meghalaya State Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui, has said that the State Education Department will soon announce the dates for Meghalaya TET. The statement was made on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, in reply to a query raised during the Question Hour Session of the Assembly.
The Legislators present in the Assemble House have expressed concern over the non-availability of qualified teachers in many of the state’s primary schools. HM Shangpliang, Congress MLA, mentioned that there 10 schools in the Mawsynram Area under the East Khasi Hills, 80 schools in the Ranikor area of South West Khasi Hills, and 20-30 schools in the Rambrai-Jyrngam area of West Khasi Hills with a lack of qualified teachers. Thus, he requested the State Government to allow the teachers who had not qualified MTET last year to teach the schools in the border areas where the mother languages, mostly Garo Language, are used as mediums of teaching the students.
NPP MLA, Rakkam Sangma, also said that over 80 schools in Rongaru Siju, his constituency, alone don’t have teachers. On this, the speaker Metbah Lyngdoh asked the Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui to address these concerns as soon as possible.
In reply to this, the State Education Minister announced that there wouldn’t be any temporary appointment of teachers to set things right in the said school because “the process of appointing teachers and rationalising of teachers is going on and it will be completed within a few weeks. Whatever is being done is in consonance with the law of the land and for the benefit of students.”
The dates will be released in the official notification of the Meghalaya Education Department. The official notification and the Application Process will be available on their official website, thus the interested candidates are advised to keep an eye on the website at www.megeducation.gov.in.
