February 6, 2021: Assam Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that around 70,000 teachers have been recruited in the last 5 years to fill in the vacancies that were available in the education department across the state.
At an event in Guwahati, Sarma said that a total of 30,000 teachers were recruited to fill up the vacancies that existed in the educational institutions and departments. He added that the education department has recruited nearly 71,000 teachers across the state.
He congratulated all those candidates who were recruited for the position of teaching and non-teaching staff. Following the same, Sarma tweeted that it was a matter of pride for the state, as 29,701 appointment letters have been sent to the teachers who were recruited and added that it was the largest and first-ever recruitment drive all over India.
Moreover, Sarma said that the Provincialisation of services of 9,895 elementary, 4,996 secondary, and 1,593 higher education teachers and staff will offer a great impetus to the education system of Assam and the same will be done for filling up of the 13,217 regular vacancies under the elementary & secondary department.
