SSC MTS (Staff Selection Commission Multi-Tasking Staff) is a national level examination conducted for the recruitment of Multi tasking staff for various government departments and offices.

SSC MTS exam is conducted every year conducted by the Government of India. The post included in the MTS exam falls under the ‘C’ non-gazetted, non-ministerial category. Recruited candidates can be posted at Central government offices and departments across the country.

  • Candidate must be the citizen of India and with minimum 10th pass or equivalent is eligible to give the exam.
  • SSC MTS 2018 Application Form can be filled online as well as offline and the fee for both the modes is INR 100.
  • Females and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH category are exempted from paying the fee.
  • Application fee can be paid online through net banking or SBI Challan or offline through Central Recruitment Fee Stamps.
  • Admit card is issued 3 weeks prior the date of examination. It can be downloaded from the website or a candidate who applies for offline admit card will receive it via post. He can also download it from the website.
  • Results for both the exams are uploaded online on the official website. Paper-1 results are uploaded in the month of April/June and the final results will be announced in August/September.
  • The cutoff list will be announced in the Month of August/September. 
  • Staff selection commission selects 8300 which are further recruited to multi tasking, non-technical posts.

SSC MTS 2018 Eligibility

Candidates who aspire to appear for SSC MTS 2018 should check their eligibility before filling the application form. The basic eligibility for SSC MTS 2018 is given as follows-

Age Limit- Candidates should lie between 18 to 25 years. Age relaxation is provided for reserved category-

  • SC/ST and Domiciled in the state of J&K (general)- 30 years
  • OBC and Ex-servicemen (general)- 28 years
  • PH (GEN) and Domiciled in the state of J&K (SC/ST)- 35 years
  • PH (OBC) – 38 years
  • PH (SC/ST) – 40 years
  • Ex-servicemen (OBC)- 29 years
  • Ex-servicemen (SC/ST) and Domiciled in the state of J&K (OBC)- 33 years

Date of birth which has been recorded in the senior secondary education will be taken into consideration.

Citizenship/Residential Criteria- Must be a citizen of India or should belong to Bhutan and Nepal.

  • Tibetan refugees who came to India, with the intention of permanently settling in India are also applicable to apply
  • Person of Indian origin who has migrated from the following countries wishing to settle in India permanently are also eligible to apply like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam.

Academic Qualifications- Minimum 10th pass or equivalent from a recognized board of the board will be applicable.


SSC MTS 2018 Application Form

SSC MTS application process begins from October 2018. Candidates can fill the application form till November 2018. Candidates can fill the application form from the official website of SSC or they can download the application form and fill in a hard copy.

How to Apply Online?

  • Visit the official website of SSC i.e. ssc.nic.in
  • Click on the link ‘Notification’ under notice category
  • Click on the ‘Application form’
  • Fill the details in application form
  • Click on link ‘Submit’
  • Make application fee payment

How to Apply Offline?

  • Visit the official website
  • Download the Application form
  • Print the Application form
  • Fill all the required details in the application form

Application Fee

Candidates can make application fee payment online as well as offline. Without the payment of application fee the form will not be submitted. The fee once paid will not be refunded.

Candidates can make payment via two methods:

  • Online payment: Choose the payment option among Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking/ e challan. Or enter the details of Card or Bank or challan ID. Verify the details and Pay
  • Candidates can pay the fee of INR 100 along with CRF stamp.

SSC MTS 2018 Admit Card

SSC MTS 2018 Admit Card is issued on the official website 3 weeks prior the date of examination. The admit card is issued to those candidates who filled the application form correctly before January 3, 2018.

It will be uploaded on the official website for the candidates to download, from their respective regional center that the candidate has submitted. The candidates who have applied for the offline admit card will receive their admit card by post or can also download it from the website.

Admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the exam center. Here are a few steps to download it-

  • Log onto the official website of SSC MTS www.ssc.nic.in
  • Click on the ADMIT CARD option available on the top of the page.
  • Select the region from which you have registered
  • You will be redirected to a page showing notification. Click on the Admit card
  • Fill in your registration number and ID to download the admit card.

The candidates must go through the admit card and in case there are any printing mistakes should immediately contact the office.

SSC MTS 2018 Exam Pattern

SSC MTS 2018 Exam Pattern comprises of 2 papers.

  • Paper-1 is an objective type paper with 150 questions for which the candidates are given 2 hours 40 minutes.
  • Paper-2 is a descriptive qualifying exam in which the candidate is supposed to write a letter/essay in English or any other language included in the 8th schedule.
  • Only if the candidate qualifies paper-1, he is eligible to give the 2nd paper. Medium of language is both Hindi and English. 
  • Paper-1 is divided into 4 parts which comprise of General Intelligence, Numerical Aptitude, General English, and General Awareness. 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

SSC MTS 2018 Syllabus

SSC MTS 2018 Result

Results for SSC MTS are declared in two phases. Result declaration varies according to the 2 exams that are conducted. The first paper will be conducted between April-June and the results are likely to be announced in the month of August/September.

Candidates who will secure the cutoff as per their category prescribed by SSC in paper 1 will be called for 2 paper which is scheduled in December and as the exam is qualifying in nature, therefore, the marks will not be considered for the final merit list.

Candidates will be provided an appointment to the post of Multitasking staff as per their ranks in the merit list. Follow the steps below to check the results-

  • Log onto the official website of SSC MTS www.ssc.nic.in
  • Click on the RESULTS option available on the top right corner of the page.
  • Select your region and the name of the examination for which you want to see the results for.
  • The results will appear in a PDF format. The candidates whose roll numbers are in the list will be called for the 2nd paper.
  • Save the PDF document for future use.

Cut off

Cutoff is the minimum marks a candidate has to score so as to qualify the next step of the selection process. The cutoff will be released by SSC along with the declaration of results and it will be published region wise.

The first cutoff list is released in the month of August/September and the second cutoff is released in January.
