NDA 2017 Factors affecting Cutoff

There are various factors that affect the Cutoff. The qualifying marks of the last candidate may be depended on these factors. We have listed some of these factors that affect the cutoff marks-

  1. Total number of seats offered – More the seats available, lower would be the cut off for the particular institute.
  2. Number of students appearing for the exam. This is directly related to the cut off. Higher the number of candidates appearing for the exam, higher will be the cut off.
  3. Difficulty level of exam – This factor is inversely related. Whenever the exams are on the difficult side, the cut offs tend to fall.
  4. Previous years cut off trends- This is more for the predictive analysis. This can help candidates understand what to expect for cut off for their preferred institutes.
  5. Previous year admission trends – This is more or less like the previous one and is generally used for predictions.
  6. Average performance of the candidate in the exam
  7. Lowest and average marks scored in the exam
  8. Reservation rules/policy – Higher the reservation for a particular section, higher would be the cut off for other categories.
  9. Marking scheme including negative marking
